| Soleil's vet had me worried now.. Yesterday I took Soleil to the vet to have her microchipped. Of course Im a proud mommy and loved the ooohs and ahhhs in the waiting room. When the vet did a quick check of her he look dismaid and listed to her heart forEVER and sighed a few times. I asked if anything was wrong and he said he thought maybe she had worms...I asked why he would think that?? He said she is sooooo skinny??? My 10 year old daughter shot me a look of shock as I did to her... Soleil is a BIG eater..she is also a very nice weight in my opinion. She is 8 months old and smaller than her big brother Reece who is 6 pounds 4 oz. Soleil is 4 pounds 6 ozs which I think is pretty normal for her breed and height?? She is NOT skinny..you CANNOT feel her ribs at all. Maybe its the shaved down haircut??? Anyhow he gave me two worm pills which I paid for even though I thought it was quite odd...not im my wildest dreams did I think she was the least bit underweight. She is eating Performatrin dog food and its a GREAT food. She eats three small meals a day and we provide treats at night. I just dont get it.. I kinda felt like a bad mommy... Here is a pic of her and Reece..Soleil is in the front...does she look "skinny" to you?? Dawn |

| When I began to read I thought you were going to say heart murmur so I'm happy it's just weight. I wouldn't worry. Soleil looks a lot like Gus was and he was very healthy. Just a great metabolism and a lot of energy. My one vet made a comment when he was a year and a half (took him that long to fill out) how she was glad to see him finally at a healthy weight. He'd been healthy all along, just naturally thin. Almost made me feel like she thought I was keeping him skinny. She looks great!!

| I was worried about mollys weight to, She is not a big eater, I have to hand feed her sometimes I took her in and the vet was not concerned and she was also tested for worms, negitive results, he just said she wont see 4pds and not to worry that i was feeding good food, She looks fine to me, almost the same as molly, she weighs 3.5 at 10mths.

| Does he want you to give her the worming pills without doing a stool sample? I think she looks good. They're both adorable BTW.

| It might be the haircut, her little bottom looks skinny. Maybe free feed her instead of meals? She might just be going through a 'teenage' phase where she seems skinny but is just losing her baby fat.

| The food looked fine til I saw sea salt (salt is fine but it is a bit high on the ingredient list). I might over look it but then I see menadione. I would google it. It isn't something I would want to feed. This food is one of the better brands though.

| "I think she might have worms, here's some meds, pay the receptionist on your way out."??? Yikes - take a sample, Dr. Vet - that's your job. Sorry, but that diagnosis sounds a little premature to me. Personally, I think she looks great. In fact, both babies are adorable. If she had worms, wouldn't you see some indication in her poop? Butt-scooting? Licking? Itching?

My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | It might be the shorter body. I have a couple of mine cut like that and they tend to look skinny too. Its hard to tell from the pic cuz she's laying down BUT I have to see they are both so pretty and I really love their coloring! Are they the same color from head to toe? VERY pretty!!! Quote:

| There was NO stool sample done nope..in fact I didnt even question him as to why he didnt do that...am I dumb or what?? I have always trusted this vet and this day I was really flabbergasted..even the receptionist seemed..for lack of a better word..bitchy lol...I have always had a great relatoinship with her and the vet. I am going to google that ingredient in their dog food right now too. I dont free feed as I have a boykin spaniel in the house that would surely keep their dog dishes empty lol..he likes thier food way too much and I have to supervise them when they eat...and they love her food too so I have to keep their food up when they arent eating. I am actually thinking of starting my boykin Sadie on this food also. Thanks everyone!! Dawn |
