| My Hubby Wants A Chinchilla - HELP ME!! HELP! My hubby has been wanting a Chinchilla for years. I'll admit that they're cute but I have 2 beautiful dogs. How can he possibly want a CHINCHILLA when we have such lovely babies already? He's CRAZY! Plus, won't Codie and Katie chase the Chinchilla? He's small and furry and dogs (especially terriers) were bred to CHASE!! What should I do? I feel SO bad telling him not to get this darn fuzz ball from hell Chinchilla because he went out and spent thousands of bucks on my 2 dogs for me as a surprise gift because he knew how badly I wanted them ... but c'mon, a Chinchilla? What should I do? Help!

| Chinchilla's are very cute, but dont they bite? Have you discussed with him the issues that may occur having this chinchella in the same locations as the yorkies? We have a bunny as well as yorkies and they do just fine with her but then again...the bunny was here first.

I would say, let him get one. They stay in a cage anyway. For exercise, you put them in an exercise ball. The little furball would be completely safe from YOUR babies. So, let husband have HIS baby.

| If you can have your dogs why can't he have his chinchilla? I actually think you are being selfish and worrying about how it will "look" compared to YOUR yorkies.

| I curious to see what everyone has to say about this... my daughter is begging for a ferret for her birthday. I have explained to her that I think the dogs would be constantly after it since that is what they were originally breed to do- chase rats, mice, etc... She swears she will keep it in her room and that they will get use it... I don't know what to do... Anyone else have a yorkie/ ferret combination? How does that work out for you? |

| We've done research on Chinchillas and no, they don't bite. They're actually very sweet creatures and their fur is SO soft. Our close friends have one and everytime we go over their house (which is a lot), Jim is always playing with their Chinchilla and I feel so bad. He never asked me for anything and even went out and surprised me w/ my babies. But I just feel like it would be a bad combo for the Chinchillas sake!! I'm afraid Codie and Katie will use him as a hockey puck! Codie and Katie are not at all aggressive dogs and they have never had a fight w/ any animal EVER (seriously) but I think they'll be drawn to attacking this a Chinchilla because of it's size and rodent look. Yes, they're in the rodent family. If you type Chinchilla in google, you can see what they look like. They are supposed to stay in large 2 or 3 story cages 0- not run around the house. But you should let them out every night for some exercise and so they don't get bored. What should I do?? I'm going nuts!

| I was going to get a Chinchilla but it said that they were to energic. They bounce all over the walls. So I didn't want one. Probably couldn't keep up with one anyway. But I think a chinchilla is like a rat/squirrel or something like that. You just don't that to escape inside your house. UH-OH!

| I have heard nothing but wonderful things about chinchillas as pets. They are very clean animals, and if they are bought young are not agressive. My babies play with my hamsters when they are in the exercise ball all the time and no biggie. And at least they aren't like a ferret where they will get out all of the time and make huge messes and lots of really obnoxious noise. (no offense to anyone who has one, but my friend's drove me crazy!) Of all the other pets to get, its probably one of the best.

I'm not sure how things would work with a ferret. They are very smart and get out of their cages A LOT and then get into your food and tear things up (I mean everything). They are also very loud and very stinky. Their temperment is a wild card, some are sweet, but some are just plain mean. I can see them being very aggressive toward your babies.

| I say let him get one. My good friend had 2 chinchillas and they were the sweetest things. We had a guinee pig and my dog was okay with it. Just buy the chichilla one of those big exercise balls and you will be okay. |
