| Good Book on dogs Have any of you read The Loved Dog by Tamar Geller??? It is very good and it tells you how to teach your dog with kindness and love. It seems like it's really good and I am already seeing a diffrence in my older boy Chewy... Just thought you all would like to know!

| I have heard of it but haven't read it. Have you learned any techniques to stop barking? I could use 'em.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My hubby bought me this bc he heard she was Oprah's dog's trainer and that she uses only kindness and postive reinforcment, rather than negative. I need to read bc it looks SO good! And, knowing how much Oprah adores her babies, it's a darn good endorsement.

| That book is on my list of "to read soon". I really liked the few pages I read about teaching "sit". It made a lot of sense. I like her idea that you can train your dog with love. That seems right in line with my philosophy.

| Barking Nipping and growling This book says to stop barking you spray the dog in the back of the head with a water bottle, and as soon as they stop barking you say good and give a treat to teach good behavior. I want to try this but I need to get a spray bottle. it's worth a try... I have tried some of the other things... Chewy was growling and barking and biting the pants of my daughters friend!!! I was shocked and upset but luckily this guy was very calm and cool about it cause he has a yorkie also. The book says to give the person they are growling at a treat to win your dog over. i thought it sounded like you are rewarding bad behavior but I asked if he minded giving a treat and he was game. The next thing I know chewy is his best friend hanging on the couch with him, sleeping on his lap!!!! I was shocked but relived that it worked. Chewy is just starting to decide that he doesn't like some people and it freaks me out when he isn't nice!!!! But the book seems to work so far!

| I started another thread about this book under training, because I couldn't remember where this one was. I'm glad you like it. I am waiting for my copy to arrive.
