| will getting a new yorkie affect sammy? hi everyone, happy holidays and a very happy healthy new year to all of you ! i have a question for you. i want to get another yorkie very soon, but i am concerned about sammy. i do not know how this will affect him. he is the only dog in a household of 4 cats. i want him to still love me and follow me everywhere and not be jealous. does bringing another yorkie in our home make him sad, jealous or unhappy? i am very concerned, because i dont want it to change his personality at all. any help with info would be greatly appreciated, on multiple households of 2 or more yorkies. i agree with all of you, they are like potato chips, can't have just one. i fell in love with this breed. |

| Now that's a poser. I don't know if I can be of much help. SOme Yorkies do not take kindly to another wee one coming into the home. Some are quite happy with the idea. How old is the one you have now? He should be neutered already, housebroken etc, as all this helps when you get a second one. They don't as a rule lose interest in you because they have a buddy. The bigger problem is whether or not he would welcome another dog/Yorkie. A second one will kind of double your work load as you will now have two needy little beings wanting your attention. If you do get a second one, make sure you get one from someone that would be willing to take it back if yours won't accept a new one. |

| When I added it did affect Tanks personality. For the better. But maybe if you want your little one devoted to you getting another might not be a good idea. Every once in a while I get jealous my babies are together and dont want me. But that moment passes and they want my love agian. My best friend is seriously jealous with her 2 dogs (weiner dogs), they dont really care to spend much time with her. They like each other better. I guess it will depend on the dogs personality too. Good luck in whatever you decide. |

| We just brought another yorkie into our home after having Jake for a year. Jake is very spoiled, and is a huge mama's boy. He wouldn't have anything to do with me for a couple days when we brought Jackson home. He didn't seem mad at my husband, even though we both went to get Jackson and took Jake with us. I just made sure (and still do) that Jake got lots of attention, just like the new puppy. I also made some extra time just to spend playing with Jake. My two are still jealous of each other, mainly when it comes to me holding them. I've just had to be extra patient with both of them, that's all. They play together ALL the time and have so much fun and seem to really love each other now. At first, Jake wouldn't stay on my lap if I picked Jackson up. But, now they will both sit on my lap or lay all over me at night time when we're sleeping. I think it just takes times and patience, until they get used to each other. I let them work it out and have never interferred, unless I thought one of them would get hurt. I think the transition went pretty smoothly, and I don't regret getting the second one at all. I still have a very close bond with Jake, he still is a mama's boy and still follows me around. The only difference is now I have TWO of them following me. Both of them are such mama's boys.
