| Weird reaction to the beach! My girls have been to the beach before, however it's been a few weeks with all the rain, chilly weather, etc. My daughter and I loaded them up today to get some fresh air for all of us. Well, Izzy started sneezing as soon as we hit the sand, and Luna was coughing and honking. Luna does have a problem with coughing when she gets excited, but Izzy hasn't ever had an issue It stopped as soon as we got back into the car. We left after about 5 minutes of this, as I was afraid that there was something in the air/sand that was causing this. Maybe there's an algae bloom right now? Anway, anyone else ever have this happen?

| I don't know, but it sounds like something was in the air. I wouldn't have stayed either.

| Ah HA! Just talked to my hubby, he said there was a red tide two weeks ago. There must have been some residuals in the sand! I'm glad now that we left, their little lungs would have been overwhelmed if we'd stayed any longer Whew!

| I was going to say Red Tide!! But looks like your husband knew! Are you on the Atlantic side? I'm in Sarasota visiting my parents and they said the Atlantic side had it bad this year. About 5 yrs ago I was down here & we went down to Venice to some beach known for gathering shark's teeth & the red tide was so bad, I almost passed out as my airway was closing up. My parents did not believe how sick I got so fast - they thought I was over-reacting It is horrid - I can't imagine what that could do to a little yorkie if they were sensative to it.
