| Oh No... Indiana PETLAND!! We do a LOT of traveling thru Indiana on our way to see family in Michigan. One of our favorite stops is at a Petsmart located just north of Indianapolis. It is located in an area with MANY stores, so we can get do a LOT in one stop. (including giving the dogs a break... and they LOVE Petsmart) ANYWAY, my husband noticed that a Petland has a new store in this shopping complex. I was REALLY curious about the store (as was my hubby), but we refrained from going in. If there are dogs there, possible unhealthy dogs, we couldn't jeapordize our dogs health. AND I would Definitely NOT want to buy anything in their store to support their business! I am really sad to see that these stores are popping up everywhere! WHY have they become popular so quickly?? ..... Is it possible that we write something in the "public opinion" columns of the local papers in the places where these stores exist? I really would love to educate more people about the puppymill puppies that are sometimes sold in these stores!! What do you all think?? Would that be something that we could do??? Could it get us in trouble???(I would think that an "opinion" couldn't get anyone in trouble.)

| Where is it? I live in Indiana...close to Indianapolis and I have no idea there is a Petland?? Also, I support your idea of writing something in the "public columns" of the local papers and educate more people about puppymills!!! Last edited by mminichan; 12-25-2007 at 08:53 AM. |

| No, we had Shelby & Seymour with us..... so I am not certain if this particular one had animals in it....... but didn't want to take them in if they did (try to avoid having sick dogs... some puppies don't have all their vaccines).......... even if they didn't I wouldn't buy anything from them. I don't want to support their business...... if their "chain" sells puppymill dogs.

Petland is a pet store. Some of them sell small puppies. They advertise that they support rescues.... etc...... they DON"T tell you where their puppies come from. So many pet stores that sell puppies get them from puppymills. There are many threads here about them. Just do a thread search and you can read about them.

| I'm also wondering about writing the newspaper. I thought about it several times, but didn't want to "get in trouble." I didn't want to get sued or anything. Maybe one of our resident law experts can advise us... Sorry about the Petland. These things really upset me...

| Our newspaper has a Letters to the Editor feature and you can disagree or agree with anything, as long as the letter isn't profane or something like that. I have written several times about puppy mills and sent the "Unwanted Dog's Christmas" poem to the paper last week and they published it. It's a good way to get information to the public. |
