| animal tattoos Has anyone ever had thier pet tattood? When my friend had her Yorkie stolen the police told her that more animals are able to be returned easier and faster if they were tattood because he said the microchip can be taken out and or messed up with a magnet. So I have been considering tattooing my babies and wanted to see if anyone has done this?

| Mine is not tattooed or microchipped and never will be. I would never tattoo my baby.

| My sisters yorkie Zippy is tattooed but he is 15 y/o and microchipping wasn't available back then. It was never really legible when he first got it done, and its even less legible now.

| AKC recognizes tatooing as a way of identification. It even asks if the dog is microchipped or tatooed. my husband tatoos his beagles and I want to tatto my yorkies but don't want a big number on them. As a breeder, you must have your dogs either/or if AKC ever comes in to check you. i don't know of any yorkies that have them but wish I did so I could see where they put it. |

| Mine are tattooed on the side of their belly. It is a series of numbers and letters. Still very legible and one is 3. I will do the 2 that are not tatooed as soon as I can. |

| My horse had a tattoo inside her upper lip. It was already done when I got her, but, I think with any animal of value, they are a common practice. Mine aren't tattoo'd but, it is def. something I have thought about. They do sedate the dogs for tattoos right?
