| Hello! newbie doubts Hi there! I’ve been around this forum for a couple of days now and i wanted to say i love it! It is so helpful! And it really nice to find this nice group of yorkie lovers to share our adoration! So, i am a new yorkie mommy, my husband just brought our new girl home 10 days ago and i am totally lost in love with her. So far i only have two questions (i had plenty more but i already found them answered searching though old threads) and i hope you guys can help me out. 1) when is a good time for the first bath? My baby has 14 weeks no baths so far 2) How many times a day do you feed your baby? i've read anything from 2 to 6 would be fine 3) Does(do) your baby(ies) have brothers/sisters from other breed, if so, which one came first? How did your introduce them and got them to get along together? We have a 4 year old cocker spaniel (miel, which means honey in Spanish) and she doesn't’t seems thrilled with her new sis, she growls a bit to her and although it doesn’t seem like she is gonna bite her but like if she was warning her who is the boss i am afraid to let them play. Pulga (that is flea in Spanish -btw it sounds much sweeter in Spanish) doesn’t seem to get the message and keeps trying to jump over her, play with her ears, bite her legs, etc. etc. So i am afraid that Miel could get really angry and hurt her. She’s been here 10 days and not 1 second i have left them alone unattended. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, i am very happy to be here! Oh, btw, we live in Venezuela and i am Spanish so forgive my bad English!(that spell check is a great tool).- |

| First off, welcome to YT. Sure glad you found us and I'm sure we will have lots of question for you as well since you live in such an interesting and beautiful country. When I got Zada she was 14 weeks old. I home cook, and fed her 6 tiny meals a day. When she was 4 months old I fed her 4 meals a day. At 6 months I fed her 3 meals a day. At one year old is when I switched to two meals a day and a light lunch of something like cottage cheese with either blueberries or apples, or yogurt. I got Azrael three months after getting Zada. Azrael was five months old, so I fed her four tiny meals a day for a month then at six months three times a day and so on. |

| I started bathing Lacy once a week when I got her at 11weeks old. I still bath her once a week. When she was a puppy I was feeding kibble. I couldn't get her to eat much at a time so I free-fed her. After she got older, I'd put half a cup in her bowl and she'd munch on it a little throughout the day and then would eat most of it at night. I switched to a raw diet about a year and a half ago. I feed her twice a day.

| Welcome to YT. These little Yorkies do have a way of melting hearts. I free-feed our two and have since we got them when they were about 12 or 13 weeks old. I was told that they may be a little heavier if we let them eat on demand, but that doesn't seem to be the case. They each get hungry at different times. I don't have time to make their food. We feed them Royal Canin for Yorkies. When they were pups (2 and a half years now) we fed them a mix of Biljac and Royal Canin. That's what the breeder recommended, so that's what we did. They are happy little guys, and very healthy. My two, Lucy and Diamond, are litter mates, so they have always been together. We don't have other pets, so we never had to introduce them to "competition." Hope this helps. For as many members as there are on Yorkie Talk, that's about how many different opinions you might get. I bathe them every week or two, depending on what activities they have been doing and when they need it. You might try using a wash cloth and get them used to it before putting them under the faucet. | Thank you very much for your replays , I am planning on free feeding too cause that is how the older girl is used to and its hard to keep pulga from eating from her sisters bowl. I bought them Canidae Maintenance Formula for All Life Stages. She seems like a picky eater so i hope i dont have any trouble with that. Its great to know that shes ready for her first shower! i am so excited about it but i was scared she could be too young... I'll give her a nice warm shower tomorrow! I will have to keep on working with the girls, still if anybody has any advice on this matter it will be very much appreciated, i am kind of lost. Thanks for your nice complements about venezuela Yorkiedaze! You can come visit us anytime you like!

| I had the same problem when I first brought Otis home from the breeder, my Jack Russel mix Oreo, is nine years old, and he was only 12 weeks. Oreo, at first growled at Otis and really didn't want anything to do with him. She even Ore at him a couple of times I would tell her no and make sure he was okay by holding him and telling him it was okay because it would scare him so bad. I would not leave them alone for a long time by themselves because I was afraid she might hurt him and not mean too, or something.. Now he has been here with us for three and a half months and they are best friends.. snaped still gets mad at him sometimes and just barks loud or growls just to tell him hey, that hurts or I don't want to play right now...Oreo loves him so much and they love to play together.. Otis really gives her a hard time though he is always bothering her playing, and if she feels like it she will play with him and then they go to sleep together after about and hour or two of hard playing. Hopefully, yours will get used to each other also, it will just take time, this is a big change for the both of them.. Just keep an eye on them and I would not leave them alone just yet until you know they will get along good.. But before you know it they will love each other so much.... here are my babies sleeping together...........
