| type of flea med.? What kind of flea med. do you use? My baby is 14 wks. old and ( for the first month I had him) the vet gave me a sample of sentinal. That has been over a month ago. I guess I need to give him something for fleas but what about heartworm prevention? Do you keep you yorkie on something year round for fleas and heartworm prevention? Also, I've been feeding him science diet and bill-jac (sp?). I saw where both foods got a low rating! What is your favorite dry food? Thanks, Melissa a.k.a. Barkley's mom |

| I use Heartguard chews for heartworm preventative. I give a chew once a month. For flea preventative, I use Advantage. I've tried frontline before but don't like it - it leaves a sticky residue and seems to wear off faster. Advantage has smaller weight increments and doesn't have as much liquid you have to squeeze on them. It dries and doesn't leave a residue and I think it works really well. The only problem I have with it is that I bathe Lacy once a week so it only lasts through 2 baths..I have to replace it after the third bath. So it usually lasts for 3 weeks instead of 4. But I think that's going to be a problem with any flea preventative for me...I bathe her often so it's going to wash away faster. there is a new flea preventative out called ProMeris. I got a box recently but haven't tried it yet. You might also want to look into it. It uses a new active ingredient so fleas should not be immune and is supposed to last for 45 days instead of 30

| Regular Advantage only lasts one bath for me so I use K9 Advantix for fleas. I use Interceptor for heartworm prevention. I prefer that to Heartguard since it has a dose for dogs under 10 pounds. |

| I use interceptor for heartworms, and Vectra for a flea preventive. Chuy has a severe allergy to fleas, so we can't take the chance of him getting bitten. He gets a rash that will turn into a sore if we're not careful.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i use frontline plus for fleas and interceptor for heartworms. i give the interceptor year round and the frontline from april thru november. it all depends on what area you live in. as for food, alot of people here feed canidae, wellness, chicken soup, and nature's variety.

| I use Revolution on my two yorkies, It also protects against heatworms. I apply it once a month. When Layla was smaller she got fleas and I was having a hard time getting rid of them, the vet recommended Revolution, I tried it and since I haven't seen the first flea on her, After I adopted Chase I just automatically started using it on him at the same time I use on Layla. Hope this helps you some. |
