| When is it time to cut off the puppy hair? I have read on other postings that it is sometimes a good idea to cut off the puppy hair and just deal with the new, nice adult hair. Can anyone tell me when they cut off all the puppy hair, and how they knew it was time to do it? |

| I dont have any problems with puppy hair. Its just as easy to groom as adult hair and takes less time as it is short. I wouldnt cut it unless you are always going to keep the hair short as an adult. And I like to see the black change to blue!!! |

| It all depends on how you prefer it, I started after 4 months just to give my Koda trims & after 8 months I gave her a puppy cut & I keep her just like that.

| I did it when Gracie was about 10 months if I recall. She had this skirt of black puppy hair and all the pretty silver above it. The groomer talked me into it and I am glad I did.

| I just let it grow too! I never cut their hair and only if they need it I trim the hair on the 1/3 tip of the ear. |

| I never cut off Kalina's hair and I have no intention of cutting off Matilda's either. Eventually it starts to become more manageable. I did shave some of Kalina's belly hair when she was small because it was so matted from running in the yard.

| It grows out as the adults hair comes in... You don't have to cut if 'off'. When it gets to the desired length, then you might want to trim it a little, if you plan on growing his hair, let it grow ... I had to cut Pepper's puppy coat off at nearly 4 months of age because his puppy coat was terribly frizzy and matting like crazy....

| I never cut off Tatum's hair. Her puppy hair turned to a nice silky coat without any problems. Not everyone is that lucky though. I would wait and see how your pup's hair does..... not automatically assume that you have to cut it off.

| Ya gotta love that stripe, huh? My favorite was the stripe on top of the head. I loved it when Tatum's topknot was tipped with white. I thought that was adorable and didn't trim it off for a long time.
