| my first yorkie We just bought a 12 week yorkie, female. Her name is Sammy. I have a two questions. 1) How much should I feed her? The breeder gave of us 2 sandwich size bags of dry food and 1 big can of food. They said that should last that will last 3-4 days. 2) When I gave her a treat and she snipped two different times at our labrador retriever. How should I correct her? Our labrador wouldn't hurt a fly and you could tell he was scared of her. (100lb dog scared of a 3lb dog) I haven't had time to post pictures but she is a cutey. Thanks, Crystal |

| All food varies how much to give. It's based on weight. Do you know what kind of food they gave you? If you know that you probably can check the company's website for feeding recommendations. Then you also need to consider how many times a day you will feed Sammy. You will have to be the alpha dog, and show Sammy that her behavior is not ok, especially if the bigger dog doesn't react. Tell her no in a strong & firm voice ALSO WELCOME TO YT -- SO GLAD TO HAVE YOU HERE!!!

| My breeder said I could feed Beno cottage cheese in the mornings if he was having trouble eating but he's not so I don't but just in case I thought I should pass on the info. Beno is supposed to eat 1/2 cup a day. 1/4 in the morning and 1/4 in the afternoon but because (1) he has a super short attention span (2) he likes to eat after he plays and (3) he's a really slow eater I just freefeed him. I put his food out in the morning right after I clean his pads and he finishes it around 9 or 10pm. Maybe if your furball is pretty little you should let it have as much food as it wants but if it's a good weight don't let it over eat.

| I'm new to this site and this is actually my first post. I've been able to free feed both of my Yorkies dry food. However, I started something new about 6 months ago. I started my little one on a raw diet. I don't free feed with that since I don't want it sitting out too long. I usually don't have a problem as my little one gobbles it right up. I chose Primal. At 4.5 lbs and considering her activity level, I feed her about 3 oz per day. They have a chart on their website that helps determine the amount to feed based on weight and age as well as whether or not you're your baby is trying to lose, maintain or gain weight. The meat is in 1oz chunks so it's easy to know how much I'm giving her. A raw diet is controversial, but my girl has really thrived on it and the vet says she looks great. |

| I leave, and refill as needed, dry food for her down all day. She gets Little Caesar, a third, every five hours until it's gone. Not sure how to work on the other issue. |
