| Good article, thanks. Not everyone is a dog lover... And reminds me that i Should always ask if I am allowed to bring my dog to other people's house when invited.

| I allways ask if I can bring my pets, even if I know they will say 'yes'.

| This may sound awful but to be honest I dont ask. I dont have skin kids and people bring theirs to my house without the need to ask. We keep Kassie in our arms the whole time we visit anyone. I figure she is my only child and does less damage in my arms than what most skin kids do. Sherri Oops edited to add I didnt read the whole article and dont take Kassie to parties Last edited by sherrijmkassie; 12-13-2007 at 08:31 AM. |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Have to add, regarding the other-guests-may-be-allergic objection. How about asking guests not to bathe in cologne, in deference to other guests that may be allergic, and find it impossible to enjoy the gathering! 'Course, this rant is completely off-topic

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I never assume that it's ok to bring Lulu anywhere. I do take her to my parents for baby sitting with the kids but I make sure to ask. BTW I do agree about the comment about people and their disgustingly overbearing perfumes.

| If the dog's ain't goin..Mama ain't goin! I rather stay home with my yorkies than go to parties...so I don't go... we have a real Christmas by remembering those poor animals that don't have anything to eat or are beaten by ^&%^$#$ owners. If it isn't work or the supermarket...I probably don't go. roxanne

| travel I would never take any of my three Yorkies to anyone's home without permission. In fact, I'd never ask permission to bring them to a party. I'm sure my babies wouldn't enjoy it anyway. We did have problems with travel, even when we had only two. Hotels that allow pets are few and far between and even those that do, if you are traveling to visit/sightsee, you can't leave the babies in the hotel. Well, we have solved our problem! We bought a 40 foot motorhome and now they go where we go. If we can't drive the RV to get there, we don't go. We stay in full hook-up parks that allow animals and when we leave to sightsee (we break it up into a few hour intervals to come back and check on the babies) the babies are okay because they are in an air conditioned home away from home. Of course, I realize not everyone can do this, but we are older with our kids all grown so we are lucky enough to be able to have this option. I feel for everyone who does have to travel with their babies though. Went through it for many years! |

| That article is funny! I usually ask before we go anywhere if Max is welcome ...if he's not, then a lot of times, we'll opt not to go. Not b/c we are upset with the place or the people, just b/c we don't want to leave Max alone or be away from him. But it made me laugh b/c we're going to my mom's for Christmas and she adores Max like he was one of her own grandchildren; but we're having dinner at my sister's mother in law's house, so I called my mom to ask if it was ok with the MIL that Max was coming. My mom told me "WEll of COURSE it's ok with her; Max is no trouble to anyone" ...but she said she'd call "just to be polite and proper" . Thank you mommy, LOL!

| I keep mine home. I have more fun without having to watch over them. With kids around I would worry about them being stepped on. Without kids I just don't see the need to bring my dogs. I respect the fact that not everyone thinks they are the most wonderful things on earth like I do. I'd rather keep them home where I know they're safe.

| I've only been a yorkie owner for a little over a year and so far I haven't taken Adie anywhere if I needed to ask permission. I'd love to take her to Florida with me when I visit my son and DIL because they are dog lovers and would love to see her. However their dog tends to kill small animals. I can't take that chance with him. I love him dearly and love to visit him but no way will I trust him around my baby. I won't take her to my boss's house either. She has told me to bring Adie and Cassie but she has three cats and I think they could get hurt. Not that cats can't live with dogs but these three aren't used to dogs. Anyway. I agree about asking permission. I know I'm furious with people when they bring uninvited children to my house. I don't think there is a whole lot of difference between the two situations. |

| Bruce travels a lot, but never to be a guest in the home of someone who would not wish to have him there. Then I always ask...However, when invited to small gatherings at my parents home or with close friends, I usually bring him without asking because these are folks who either (a) adore him, (b) have given permission in the past, or (c) know we are attached at the hip and let me know if they wish for him not to attend. What I do hate is guests that you inform that you have a dog that is the prince of the household and they come over and expect you to make all sorts of special accomodations for them, like locking Bruce in the bathroom for oh 6 hours, NOT HAPPENING it is his house! Yes, I have had a guest that expected that, and was seriously put out I would not remove his bed from the living room or "get his toys out of sight." Ditto on the cologne...
