| Hi, I am new I currently do not have a dog. I am a stay at home mom to 3 young kids and would like to wait until they are older to get a dog of any kind, but I want a small house dog. Right now I have 2 cats (an 18 week old and a 9 week old). Can yorkies and cats get along? When I was in high school my history teacher (a big tough man) had a yorkie and said it was the best dog in the world. I look forward to learning more here. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I own both a yorkie and a siamese cat. I had the cat about two years before I got the yorkie. At first she was a bit standoffish with Lulu but she came around. There are no problems with them. They play nicely.

| Welcome to YT!! I had 2 older Siamese when I brought the yorkies into the house nearly 5 yrs ago. My sweet male cat never had a problem with them. My female was a bit more stand offish & sometime swatted at them. But with the passing of my male cat a yr ago, my female has looked for companionship with the yorkies. And now that it's cold they are often laying very near one another for all that body heat.

| Welcome. I have two yorkies and four cats. We had three of the cats before the yorkies and one since. They all get on fine. In fact Coffee and Jesse (oldest cat) love each other. Always giving kisses and they play catch every night while I'm on YT. Yorkies do love to chase cats, but we have always just told them "NO" and they soon learnt that's not allowed
