| Puppy Bathing ?? When should Rudy get his first bath? How often? Can I use a wash cloth with warm water to clean under his eyes in between baths? Someone told me to use baby shampoo what are your thoughts? Should I blow dry him? When should he go to groomer for the first time? How often? I am going to do puppy cut. Thanks..

Senior Yorkie Talker | I bathed our Tara the first day she came to our house, she was 7 weeks old. I would wait a week for her to settle. Our Tara obviously didn't like it and was frightened, but survived. Bath is not her favourite thing but the more she is bathed she is getting used to it. She whines and shakes with cold, but have a warm towel ready and a hairdryer, as she will cry from being cold. The hairdryer is not her friend either so I have to hold her with one hand and dry with the other, just keep talking to her calmly. I would say go to groomer when needed, if fact they should experience it first time before 14 weeks old as a part of their socialization, you should expose them as a young puppy to all possible different people and situations, washing machines and vacuum cleaners, car and public transport etc. They need a lot of positive experiences when very young, so you go ahead and groom him/her or take him to the shop with you to meet some people. The dog should meet 50 people before he is 4 months old. |

| I bathed Mocha a few days after he came home. I now give him a bath once a week. I use Minksheen on his body and Johnson's baby shampoo on his face. I used to use a wash cloth to clean his face daily, but I've recently started using baby wipes and they work great. I get the sensitive unscented kind so it is very gentle and doesn't irritate him. It's also great for wiping their paws and private areas after they potty. There are also pet wipes that do the same thing, but they're always more expensive. Most people prefer the baby wipes over the pet wipes. Anyways, I use the baby wipe to clean his face, then I use a flea comb to get his eye boogies out. I blowdry Mocha after a bath. He's very used to the blowdryer now. I also bought a pet specific one, as it is quieter and also comes with a stand. I'm not sure at what age you should take them to the groomers, and I haven't taken Mocha yet. I do his upkeeping on his bath days (nail trim, ear cleaning, trimming/shaving etc.). With all the horror stories out there about bad groomers, I'm too chicken to bring him to a groomer. Until I'm lucky enough to find a good, trustworthy groomer, I'm going to be grooming him myself. | They were giving Elphaba a bath when I picked her up...so it was a week after she came home I gave her her first bath. Usually its once a week. Sometimes more....the medicine for ear mites makes her greasy ALL over in like 2 days. I haven't done the groomer yet...Though she probably needs it at this point. I want to stick with puppy cut too...but I don't want to take her before we go home for Christmas and have them cut her too short....the family hasn't met her yet and I want her super cute when we go home! Oh..and I do blow dry her... |

| You can bathe your pup when ever you feel. I give mine a bath once a week, but twice a week doesnt hurt either. Its your preference. Over bathing can dry out their skin, so keep that in mind. He wont be able to go to the groomers until he has his rabies shot... You can use any shampoo you like, it really depends on what you prefer and of corse you can wash him with a cloth... Congrats on your pup

Senior Yorkie Talker | I actually also use baby wipes every day if she pees and steps in it or gets messy I wipe her feet and belly area, just to freshen her up and keep her clean. I can recommend baby wipes as the dryer and quicker option. But you can bath her anytime, just not too often, and make sure you get a good shampoo that doesn't dry out it's skin too much. I use tearless puppy shampoo. I bath her only when needed which is about every 10-14 days. |

| I bathe mine ones a week, I had a very bad experience with a groomer so I groom them my self, in my opinion is less stress for my girls.Every day I use a warm wash clothe to clean their eyes and their private part it depends how messy they are I will wash their behind. But every day they get comb to get any matt out for wearing clothes. |
