| My yorkie passed away My little sweetheart was put to sleep last June. She was 16. My husband said I would have kept her on life support if I could have. ( Joke) to me not funny. We were constant companions. But I couldnt see her suffer any longer and had to let her go. This was so hard for me. I am still mourning her loss. Everyone says "get another' but I know she will not be replaced. I have started to think about another dog in the near future. Maybe after christmas. I have a concern now of leaving a yorkie with my vet when I go on vacation. We are gone 2 weeks out of the year and most places dont take dogs.I have never used this vet but anyone around here that has a dog goes there and raves about the vet. He loves animals so, I will more than likely change to this vet when we get a new dog. Has anyone here left there dog either boarding or with a vet. Do they board OK. My relatives now have too many dogs and I would not leave a yorkie with them anymore. Please give me advice on boarding. We are going on vacation in April and I and concerned about having to put our Yorkie at the vet for a week. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome!!! So sorry for your loss. It is so difficult to go thru the loss of our beloved friends, but there are so many needing our love that it helps heal our hearts. Maybe you could find someone to watch your baby while your gone. I am in the northern suburb of Gurnee. When it gets closer to your vacation post on here and maybe myself or someone else can watch her.

| I am so sorry for your loss. It is so painful to experience. I have 2 young Yorkies and also have never left them anywhere. I'm nervous that they won't take care of them correctly Whenever I've gone anywhere lately, I made sure they could come along. I search for 'pet-friendly' places online. It is so valuable to have someone you can trust to leave them with! I'd LOVE someone like that! Welcome to YT and (hugs) for your lost pup.

| Thank you all for your comments and support. I know I am not the only one with these concerns. You are all so kind to respond. What a good idea looking for someone here online to babysit. Mypreciouspups. I'm so sorry about your little one. Some of these vets are not so good.I didnt like my vet and had a hard time finding a new one I could trust with my sick dog. Finally, when sophie was put to sleep it was by a new vet that was opened on Sunday. Care Animal Hospital. Arlington Heights, Il They were very understanding and caring. Again Thank you. Barb |

| Welcome to YT! We usually take our "kids" with us when we travel, I'm finding more and more pet friendly places here in South Africa. Even some that aren't I phone and tell them I have Yorkies and they usually agree to have them. I do make sure the kids don't potty inside or make a noise. They are so used to going away with us, they are very well behaved. Once in a while we can't take them, and we leave them with my son (24) and his girlfriend, but I still worry. The idea of finding a YTer in your area is a very good option. Getting another baby doesn't take the place of the other but it does heal the heart!

| Welcome to YT. I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing can replace the loss of a beloved companion but at some time you will be ready to love another. When we travel we take Lucy with us and we travel quite often. I would just do your research when the time comes. Warm wishes,

| Welcome to YT and so sorry to hear about your loss. It is great that you are here....everyone is so nice. I'm sure there is someone on here that lives near you who would love to watch your dog for you. The other option is when you decide to get a dog, ask the breeder. I know this is something my breeder offers.

| Leaving your dog is definately hard on you and your baby. I would suggest finding someone that you could pay to stop by your house while your gone to walk and feed the dog. My friend has a service that comes by two to three times a day and takes care of the his dog when he leaves town. He said it is the best choice because his dog is not under any additional stress from being in a strange environment. His care giver also leaves a diary of events, which is a nice peace of mind. |
