| Fleas or dry skin When your dog is scratching, how can you tell if it is fleas (I didn't see any) or dry skin? How can you tell dry skin at all?

| Check the area for white flaking. If you don't see any fleas it probably is dry skin. Fleas leave a dirt like substance on them.

| Fleas are small brown things that move. You see them frequently on the belly. Dry skin is white flakes

| Well... I think Mr. Biggs had fleas, because he was biting his booty. So i gave him meds...then it scabbed a bit (brown flakes) now he tries to get at it because it's flaking. lol. If you see white flakes or if the hair in that area is dry, then it's probably just try skin. Either way you can give a bit of children's benedryl and that should calm the itching.

| Same problem....... Otis has been biting at his hind legs, hips and butt like the itching is almost driving him crazy.... I don't see any fleas, and I don't really see any flakes either. I have no idea what is going on with him...
