| Welcome to YT! I hope you enjoy your time on here and meet many new friends, learn about the breed, and have fun in the meantime! I don't know that there is anyway to be SURE that the mix you're getting is a morkie, other than asking the breeder to see both parents. If the breeder doesn't own both parents, ask for pictures of the stud. Also, go inside and check out the house/kennel where the dogs were born, where they sleep, and see what the conditions are like. I would also tell you that you should just generally chat with the breeder, and see what kind of a feeling you get from them-usually, if your gut says something's just not right, it probably isn't....

| Welcome and be carefull.... Welcome to yorkie talk.... Somehow it is posted on so many reliable sites that good breeders are aginst the mixes... if you "must" have a mixed baby you need to be extra carefull... the main reasons for breeding are obvious: "betterment of the breed they love" !!!! If you love the mixed you need to make sure you check out the breeder really well and get a health garantee in writing... in another hand it is a fact that pure breds are very susceptible to congenital diseases, in theory a mixed breed should have less probability of inherit some defective recessive genes .... Good luck !!

Maltese and Yorkies share many of the same genetic illnesses like liver shunts, luxating patellas, Legg-Perthes, etc. so the probability of puppies inheriting one of these diseases is just as high. The best way to predict the long term health of a puppy is buying him from a reputable breeder who does extensive health testing and screens for genetic problems before breeding. Committed breeders like this do not mix breeds, but concentrate on producing the best possible offspring from one breed. Reputable breeders also sell their puppies with a spay/neuter agreement so their dogs do not end up in the hands of breeders of designer dogs to be bred indiscriminately.

| I agree. the best way to be sure of what you are getting is to research the breeder. People spend so much time looking for the "right puppy", when really they should be looking for the "right breeder". If you are working with reputable breeder, they will work with you to get you the right puppy. Good Luck on your search. |

| well ask for papers on the mom and dad and make sure the malteses is purebred and the yorkie is purebred. In my humble opinion though, I think you'll be getting ripped off paying a high price for a glorified mix. They are cute though when the mom and dad have good features.

I would like to see some documentation supporting your statement as it is contrary to everything I have ever read on the subject. Here is a great link with more information about the myth of "hybrid vigor" in designer dogs with links to other supporting information. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/NoPupp...ner_mutts.html

| You need to see the parents to make sure. I would look around the place really well, because I think it will be hard to tell with a mix.
