| How often do you brush teeth? I got Sophie a new doggie toothbrush and beef flavored toothpaste. (eeewww) She loves it and it made it a whole lot easier to brush her teeth. I used to use a baby toothbrush and it worked good when she was smaller but she has outgrown it. It says on the toothpaste to brush twice a week. Is it ok to brush everyday? I want to keep her teeth in good health. I had a poodle who had problems with her teeth and I don't want to go through that again if I can prevent it. |

| I also brush mine little ones but I only do it about 2x a week and she love the meat flavor toothpaste the vet gave me.. so she enjoys it and after I brush her teeth I let her chew on the tooth brush.

| I do it daily so he gets used to it. My dentist says it takes 24 hours for plaque to start hardening so I figure it must be the same for dogs (right?) I use a natural toothpaste that he seems to like. |

| I brush Chloe and Lacey's about every 2 days but I think daily is great. I think I'll change to that myself in view of all the dental issues yorkies have. Since I was soooo good at handling Chloe when she was little, she will let me do anything, including brushing her teeth. She's just the sweetest thing. Lacey is so spoiled, she clamped her little mouth shut and just dares me to pry it open. Her teeth are the size of toothpick ends, so its hard to get to them but I'm going to win the battle! |

| The vet that I work for recommends brushing your dogs teeth twice a day, everyday. Just like you would your own teeth. I don't brush my dogs teeth at all. I know that I should but I don't. But that is the recommendation. Wendy @ newyorkies.net |

| I brush mine every other day. They don't do very well with this or I would do it more often.

Wow twice a day! I don't think Sophie would go for that. She does pretty good with once a day but I don't think either of us could handle twice a day. Thanks everyone for your advice. | |

| I only brush bella's about once a month. It is hell!!!!!! She freaks out and acts like I am trying to murder her. It doesn't hurt her, so I don't understand this behavior. And, it is actually more stressful for me than her; trying to hold her down, she wriggles about, twists, turns, clamps her mouth shut. It is nearly impossible, thus doesn't happen very often. I do feel guilty about that, though. |

| I brush SNoodles once a day. She is good about it, but won't let me use the toothbrush on her front teeth. I use the finger brush there and she is fine with it. I will do it twice a day if it will keep her teeth good. New Yorkie! What does your vet think aabout the finger brush? Just wondering. Pat |
