| With some of them their ears never stand up. I guess you need to ask yourself if it matters and makes you love him any less...Teddy's don't stand up either and I will admit that initially I was a little disappointed but the longer I had him the less I cared. His ears now let us know how he is feeling. Most days when he is happy and being his naughty little self his ears are just about up and just flip over a wee bit on the tips, then we have the scared ears when he goes to the vet and groomer where he looks like he is a little rabbit and finally we have the down ears for when he is kicked back and in his most relaxed state. I am sure others here will share how to tape the ears if that's the look that you prefer.

| Your little guy is very cute regardless! But I know that some people do tape them themselves and the vet doing it isn't necessary. If you do a search you can probably pull up some information that has been posted in the past as far as the technique they use. Sorry, I can't help you more but as daylight comes I am sure more helpful people will emerge with some better answers for you if you haven't found the info yourself at that point.

| theres a heap of suggestions on here for getting dogs ears to stand up, there was even something to do with tampons taped to the ears! leave his ears down its way way cuter! I think unless you particularly like them up or are trying to get him to look what people refer to as 'breed standard' who cares if the ears are up or down they look adorable both ways. its weird cos most yorkies i see now in England have floppy ears and tails, its almost like over here they are moving away from what we are told our yorkies are supposed to look like, and i think thats great. obviously if you want to 'show' its ears up, tail off! I suppose i'm just a bit of a 'leave it as nature intended' person. I like Buddy 'natural' and dont ever let anybody let you feel like your pup is inferior just cos it may not be 'breed standard' As u can see i'm quite passionate about floppy ears lol

| wondering also... This is a good question... My little yorkie just turned 12 wks...her ears stood at the breeders after taping..for about a day~ LOL Now they are down again. I haven't taped them yet again. I wondered when I should be doing that... She looks more like the Flying Nun right now...half up....

| The link with the answers Fasteddie provided are really great, infact if you haven't read the whole thread I recomend you do so. It's very informative. My puppy had the same problem, his ears stood up one day and then were down and floppy the next, turns out he had alot of stinky earwax build up. I cleaned out his ears which took me three days of cleaning to get them to stop being stinky and I would also massage his ears up at the cleaning and whenever I was playing with him. By the third day it was enough that he now always has his ears up. Ears up or down is a preference (besides the akc standard thing) I like the way he looks like a fox/rabbit/cat mix with his ears up lol and I can tell what mood he's in by the way he moves them. Anyway Fasteddie's link to the Q&A thread is a great place to start finding answers to good questions! Thanks Fasteddie and Yoda.

| Sophie's vet said the ears should be taped up around 8-9 weeks. He shaved her ears, placed a small roll of gauze inside the ear for support, put a few pieces of tape around each ear, and then one longer piece of tape around both ears to hold them straight up. She looked like batman! He said it takes around 6 days for the cartlidge in the ears to firm up, so he said not to remove the tape until the 6 or 7th day. It worked like a charm!! I think I have a pix of Sophie with her ears taped in my photo album, so you might want to check it out. If not, I'll add one soon. |

| I think they should be up by 7 months if they are going to come up but taping won't hurt. Usually a week of taping will do it, trim the hair at the tip of the ears and I sprinkled calcium on Chloe's food since it is a calcium issue. When he ears came up, I stopped the calcium. |
