| More than 7 week wait for groomer I just called to make an appoint for my 2 to go to the groomer - and the first appointment they could give me is Jan. 9!!! Is this crazy or what! My 2 are long and I do some of the grooming - they probably haven't seen the groomer in a yr & half -- but I thought they needed to be shaped up better than I can do it. I wanted to get them in the next couple weeks. I was shocked that it would be over 7 weeks! Does anyone else wait that long to get in?? So now I have to figure out if I want to try and trust someone untested by me. The groomer I go to is really good. Two gals own, not sure how many people work there - but it's like when you make an appt to see your own hairstylist - you actually make an appt with their individual groomer -- not just anyone else at the shop.

| Seven weeks sounds really long but if it's a very busy business the regular clients probably book way in advance for the holidays. Now you'll know for next year and at least you can do some of it yourself.

| The place I used to work at would book up like that sometimes. I'd put your name down on a cancellation list if they have it and call every day to see if they've had a cancellation.

| I made an enquiry at my local 'Pets At Home' store and they are booked up till february! I decided it was too busy and might be a bit intimidating for my tiny baby!

I just did some checking & there is another place in town that I almost took them to when I first got them several yrs ago. This place looks really cool -- but they're closed on Mondays - so no idea how long their wait is. (It looks like they even have a small retail shop & I didn't even know it was there !! - how could I not know about another place to shop for my babies!!) I'll try to call them tomorrow, or call up a gal who used to groom my Bichons years ago. She had her grooming salon in the basement of her home though and she never let me into the house - it was weird -- she lived in a very upscale house and would meet me in her attached garage to hand off the dogs. I could see in the first floor living area, as I waited - the house was immaculate -- but it was strange.

| The longest I ever had to wait was a week. Maybe it's because of the holidays coming up.

| Our groomer has an online appointment calendar and I've already scheduled my two in for their next groomings on Jan. 11th and April 4th. It's really a fast and convenient scheduling to pick your days and times when you want to go months ahead of time. http://www.adogsdomain.com/ I love it! Our initial visit did take a couple weeks to get in as well but it was definitely worth the wait because both my yorkies looked so good afterwards (the owner has even won national awards for her grooming). People stop and comment about them all the time now how good they look. The staff also seem to really care about the dogs there and take the time to stop and talk to you, not just grab the dog and throw him in a small kennel till they get around to washing him. My yorkies had been going to Petsmart for grooming and poor Toby knew just walking in the store where he was heading and he got to where he wouldn't even walk in there anymore and had to be carried. Also, they'd both shake so badly and try to get back out the door, I felt really guilty leaving them. Now they both love their new groomers and run in and try to run in the back room to see everyone. I feel so much better leaving them for an hour or so now then I did before at Petsmart.

| The place that I have used doesn't even have a website - but I guess if they have that much business, they don't need one! But the place I'm going to call tomorrow has a really nice website and they even state: "Your pet will have access to our entire salon to stretch out or romp around. This is especially nice for extra large dogs, or pets who prefer not to be in a cage. Treats, toys, and water will be offered. All pets staying longer than three hours will be walked. " I wish they had the option to see their scheduling calendar. I could try to set something up - but it's basically just email. I just found out that I will be in the area near their shop tomorrow afternoon, so I will be stopping in their for a visit. This is their website www.shearpawfection.com/index.html I love the look of your groomer's Felina - but I'm nowhere near Jacksonville -- wish, wish as winter is coming here. I peeked around on their website, very nice - are those your 2 yorkies on the page showing terriers?? Cute dogs.
