Is getting medical insurance ok? any recommendation for a good insurance. also, since we got her, 3 days now she has not been eating. i bought diff kinds of brand everyday but she just sniff it - does not even taste it. I am giving her nutrical and karo syrup. Pls help my first puppy (molly) died after just 1 day of staying with ( I have to take her back to the breeder). I dont want that to happen to ginger. The vet told me that the puppy is just sick that's why she was not eating. But i am very, very worried. PLEASE HELP |

| I am sorry to hear your new puppy is sick and not eating. Did the vet tell you what was wrong with her? I am sure someone here will be able to give you advice but it would help if we knew what it was.

| I have VPI health insurance...try boiling some chicken and rice and hand feeding it to her...her eating is the most important thing now!!!...also try hand feeding her her kibble and give her a little at a time...when Maximus had kennel cough...I had to hand feed him and mix rice in with his kibble..now he is healthy and a porker!!!!

| And if that doesn't work, go buy some chicken baby food and feed her that with a dropper if you must. She has to eat. |

| We have just made it through 2 1/2 weeks of feeding Roxy by shring A/D. She was flown in and the stress of it and all the change was almost more than she could stand. We fed and watered her (Pedialyte) around the clock every 3 to 4 hours, with Nutrical (a bead) every 6 hours. She wasn't metabilizing her sugar or food for a while. It was heart wrenching. We never gave up though. Thank goodness she made it back after she relaxed here and now he is starting to feed herself...chicken and puppy Science Diet. We still are suplimenting. She finally got her shot yesterday (#2)...that is how much better she is. How bad? She bottomed out on sugar though we were giving her enough Nutrical and Karo to keep me going. Ended up in the hospital on an IV... The Drs couldn't figure it out except to say depression and stress. She is gaining weight now and is playing and barking....we are on our way. Hang in there. DO NOT give up! |

| How old is Ginger? Is your breeder near by - maybe your could call her and she would be able to help. It might be best to feed her what the breeder was feeding her. I would also recommend nutrical and bottled water or pedialite (in baby section).

| aww sorry to hear about your Ginger!! About Pet insurance.. I was really debating about this one.. All three of my doggies had to go to the emergency vet .. With my Ginger being there twice ... I've heard a lot of pro's and con's.. but from another forum and they own different kinds of dogs.. with Yorkies being more Fragile.. i'd think insurance is a good thing right? but i've heard that it's not so good if your dog doesn't go to the vet so often.. soo i'm also considering if it's worth it or not. |

| I don' t think you need to give her Nutracal and Karo, isn't it the same thing? Or pretty much the same? If this is the second sick puppy you got from the same breeder, I'd be suspect of this breeder (if I understood your note correctly). Yorkies in particular do not like changes in their food, did you keep the same one as the breeder? If not, that could be at least part of the problem. I'd go with the boiled white rice and boiled chicken for a couple of days. Just a little with plenty of water. I'd also call my vet. I turned down pet insurance, which was a mistake with Chloe, she's very curious and I have had to make some emergency visits to the vet with her. My vet suggested insurance at least through the first year. Hope this helps. |

| VPI Pet Insurance...go to petinsurance.com Look at the different plans they offer. It really depends on the amount you want to spend. Just go to their site and study it for awhile or you can call them and talk to them. They're very nice. |
