| I decided not to go I posted last week about being upset by my MIL saying that we could not bring Teddy with us to Thanksgiving. My husband called her last night and told her we could not find him a sitter and she said well you can't bring him. Hubby asked why and she said that she didn't want a dog pooping all over her house. I know this is her house and she certainly has the right to say if she wants a dog to come or not BUT Teddy has only been there one time and I was on top of him every single second. I even kept him on his leash most of the time. When he was off the leash he had a BB on and I watched him like a hawk. He also had his crate and if I couldn't be right with him that's where he was. Teddy NEVER pooped or peeed in her house. So I don't know why she would say that except to be ugly. So, I have decided that my son and I will stay home and told hubby to keep the peace he should take the girls and go. He does not like that idea but I think he will go. So because of this my family will be seperated this year. In the future we will not make plans to go there. I will invite them here next year and they can come or not. All so sad considering that we are military and have been away for the past 10 years. This is the first holiday we were going to spend with them in all that time and I would have thought she would be happy to have us. Oh well...

| I got this from my inlaws too. The last couple times we've been invited for family things to their house, they ask us to not bring our dogs. But my husband's 2 brothers and their families always bring theirs. My dogs are my family. And I feel like if they're not welcome, it's not somewhere I want to be. So we're staying home this year for Thanksgiving. I understand how you feel

| oh how terrible. I can see someone in my family saying that too, but...they have met Gino and like him. He sits with me pretty much at all times (he wants to LOL), and I take him out often. I am glad you are taking a stand because of this, but its sad she had to be this way. Its one day. Happy thanksgiving to you, and BIG HUGS! Stacy

| I'd feel exactly the same way. If my yorkies weren't welcome, then I'm not welcomed and now you have a great excuse to not go to see the in-laws. Like who really wants all that stress anyway on a holiday. You'll have a much more relaxing day at home with the ones you truly love and that love you unconditionally. I'm perfectly happy sending my hubby on the plane next Mother's Day to see his mom and I'll be home with my babies. Let him go deal with his relatives while I'm comfortably at home. I almost feel guilty ... NOT. :^)

| I am so sorry it came to this. I followed your other thread and really hoped you would find a solution. At least you know where she stands so that will help alleviate any future questions about where to go on the holidays. I will be sending happy thoughts to your and your baby that day since I will be stuck with my in-laws...

| I'm sorry. I would have done the same thing. If you have to travel far and stay overnight, all members of your family should be welcome. And it sounds like you were a perfect dog mommy when you were there so I don't know why she wouldn't want him there.

| I would have done the EXACT same thing you did if I were in your situation. My fur baby is just that - my BABY...if someone expressively said NOT to bring him, then I would feel like I wasn't welcome too!

| I'm sorry things didn't work out. You can come to my house, all dogs are welcome. Did she say anything when she found out you weren't coming?

| I hate to hear that! But you are right! My sister's always takes her dog to any family gathering- she has no one to watch it! Her boyfriend is the same! He has a golden ret.- not a small dog- and my moms house was crowed when we got 20 + people in it- but we'd rather go around a big old dog- than not have them there! Her loss! You have a good Thanksgiving with your little furbaby! spend some quality time together! |
