| Congratulations on your new baby! Gee, it's been so long since I've had to housebread one on its own, I have other dogs and Lida Rose pretty much follows their lead. If you really keep an eye on her you will learn to tell when she has to go, especially if you have her on schedule. The little ones drink a lot, therefore they pp a lot! Since Lida stayed in my lap a lot after bringing her home, she would whimper to get down when she had to go and find the pads my other dogs use. Also, I take them outside at least 3 times a day for potty. Lida is pretty much housebroken at 11 week, but like I said she has and older brother and sister that's pretty much helped in that area. Don't give up on her, there are a lot of people on YT who will help you out, I bet she's cute as a button! Would love to see a pic! Welcome, little Elizabeth, and welcome to YT. Windy and Lida Rose |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Would love to see pictures! I've heard that with litter training, you need to start at a very early age...usually put them in a play pen with it until they get use to going there. I had bought my pan and litter from PetCo...had it delivered to my door, but Chester wasn't interested in it. He did go poo in it a couple of times, but he lost interest after that.

| Thank you Thank you! I think I am going to go to Petsmart tonight and talk to a trainer there. I have tried the pads, but she choses to play with them instead of use them. We have another dog Napoleon (Chihuahua-poodle mix), he usually goes outside, but has been reverting since he sees Lulu doing it. I take her out several times a day 4:30 am, 5:30 am, 7:00 am, at lunch and five or six times at night. This morning was it, I have to do something. I tried just setting her outside, instead of going with her thinking maybe should go if she wasn't pressured by Mommy say "go potty" 500 or 600 times. I always thought maybe because she is so tiny, she has a small bladder and just doesnt get the "urges". No, I think she holds it thinking outside is play time, and goes when she comes in. This morning, she peed on ME!! Napoleon was easy, his mom and dad belong to my husband's parents, so they pretty much trained him before we moved here from NY. But I have to train Lulu myself, and I just don't know what to do. I know part of it is my fault. I gave her too much freedom, too fast. But she is so cute that its hard not to spoil her. I have one picture here at work with me, and I will post it, but its not the best picture of her. I will get more later. |

| My Tucker had been started on the litter box early at the breeder's and I have continued on from there - we're doing fairly well but it is by no means an overnight process with Yorkies. I have had two previously and even at 5 years of age, there was still the occasional "I didn't feel like asking to go out so I just peed here" moment. This is my first time litter training and at almost 7 months the pee pee accidents are only once or twice a week now. The pooping is another matter entirely as some others on here can attest to as well. I prefer this method (litterbox) since I do work full time, do not have a fenced in yard, and love to sleep almost all day on weekends so it really was a great option for me. Maybe the shih-tzu in your baby will have some influence, but I think most of the folks on here will agree that Yorkie potty training is, most often, an exercise in lots of love and even more patience... WELCOME TO YORKIETALK!!!!!!! Dana |

| Welcome to both you and Elizabeth to YorkieTalk. I have personally not litter trained Schatzie, she uses potty pads. Hope you enjoy the site as much as we all do and if you want to share pictures of Elizabeth, we'd love to see them.
