| play pen question Hi guys, Some of you might know that I am getting a Yorkie next month. I am slowly preparing for his arrival. I have bought a second-hand play pen for him (looks like attached pic). How do you go about cleaning the ones that you currently own? I am not sure which disinfectant/cleaner to use and am worried that residue might stay behind and he might lick it and get sick! Look forward to your responses, Danielle |

| I never had the playpen, have an xpen, and I just wipe up the floor with water..you can put some natures miracle in it to clean it, that won't hurt him |

| I use one almost exactly like that. I just washed it normally(soap and water). I put a wee wee pad inside, a dome shaped puppy bed and a small two dish feeder(that's stationary so it can't splash). Then you can put in a toy if you have to leave them to go to the store or something. They have a nice narrow one at Babies R Us but I couldn't talk myself into spending $100. I bought mine at a garage sale last year. Just make sure they don't have any clothing, tags or collars on that could snag on the netting if left alone.

| I have a small playpen that I use when the litters are very small. I get a cheap plastic table cloth from Big Lots or Walmart and cut it to size then tape in to the sides a few inches up (just below the mesh) Then I can clean it with a mixture of white vinegar and water to help eliminate any odors. But I do cover the bottom with the pee pads and the tablecloth is just a back up for any leaks.

| same i have the same exact pen as the picture you posted. i have a 2nd one coming for the yorkie girl thats coming to me after the holidays. I have always just used any ol household disinfectant spray and then used a hot wash rag to wipe it down thoroughly after a couple minutes of letting the spray work its magic. if you are reusing the pen from a previous dog the soap and hot water is fine. just make sure you disinfect the pen and wash his bed and whatever else is in there every so often to keep germs away. ill usually spray down everyhing with disinfectant and then wash em in the washer. keep it that simple and you'll have a healthy yorky for a long time to come. its amazing how simple things like that keep you and your yorkie healthy. welcome to the club btw |

| We did use a play pen till Roxy was 6 months old. She fig a way to get out of there. She is so funny she scales up the sides with her paws then gets to the top and jumps out. She has it down to a science now. It takes her only one min to get out. I wish I could fig out a way to keep her in there. I cleaned it was nature's miracle.

| Here is alink to an Xpen. This is what I use when the pups get older. To protect my carpet I just got some large pieces of heavy duty vinyl and sewed them together to place under the xpen. I bought 2 sets with six panels each and it makes quite a large area. I will post a video of it in the video section so you can see the little ones in action. http://www.petedge.com/Pet-Yard-Exercise-Pen-ZX191.pro

| I would think using warm water with vinegar in it would disinfect it without getting your baby sick. Just wipe it out good with clear water when your done.
