Here in my little part of Ontario Canada the law states we can only own two dogs..(I have three shhhhhh)

and there is no law about cats (so far)

. I know some people on here have more than 2 yorkies..is there a law where you live??

If so tell me about it and how it works for you? If you are "breaking" the law like I am tell me what you would do if you were caught?? My friend in a neighbouring town had animal control going door to door to check!! The warned if there was more than two dogs they were taking them ALL away from people. Luckily she only had two dogs but I dont know what I would do if they came to my door!!

Here, as long as you own your own house, there is no laws as to how many dogs you can have.

No laws here regarding the number of dogs in a household. All dogs are supposed to be vaccinated against rabies - honor system - and we have a leash law that is NOT enfoced.

Sometimes I think more regulation would be a good thing.

In Philadelphia it is 12!

80% or more must be fixed. Kind of interesting number for the city.

I wonder why we are so strict here in Canada?? I certainly want more yorkies in time but the fear overrides my wants most of the time..

We have HEAFTY fines here if you dont vaccinate against rabies...luckily they have rabie clinics.

There are no laws here limiting your number of pets (unless of course you rent a home where you can't have pets....=/). But ALL of your animals must be registered with the town. and of course, they have to be well taken care of, or someone is going to tell on you (lots of people around here love and have dogs.)

My old town had a leash law...I don't know if this new one does. It wasn't enforced very well...but it was there. and once a year at town hall they had a place to get rabies shots for them.

We do however have very strict laws against animal cruelty, which is great. We don't have a law to give rabies jabs because rabies doesn't exist here. No leash laws but a law that you must have control over your dogs at all times, a very reliable recall is respected within that.

Interesting..I dont even know the law in where I live!

when i got chloe spayed, i read a sign on the wall that says it is the city law all pets have to be spayed or neutured!

How do i find out the law around where I live?

I live in Nashville Georgia in the city limits they say we are only allowed 2 dogs per household. I only have 2 but my neighbor has 3 and was actually taken to court by the old man that used to own our house. They threw it out. After Christmas we will be looking for a little girl and will then have 3. They don't do anything crazy like go door to door checking so I don't think there would be a problem unless we had a grumpy/nosey old man heighbor to report you. If there ever was a problem I would sell this house in a heartbeat and move outside the city limits!

Is that law only for certain areas of Canada? I know a lady that lives in Canada and she said it's the law to have the bordatella, but not rabi shots, that that's up to the indidvidual..
here you can have as many dogs as you want, and if you call the animal control, they will enforce the leash law..

No laws in Michigan.....there should be tho...Inner City Detroit is known for puppy mills breeding Pitbulls, rotties, and other so called "fighting" dogs. Its sickening.....The only laws i know of say you have to have your dogs registered with the state.
