| Comfort Zone... Tucker has really come around since I got him. He's 16 weeks old today and a normal puppy - playing and running around - and I am SO happy about that. The problem comes when we try to go anywhere outside of his comfort zone. He's very comfortable in the living room and the yard outside my house, but that's it. He starts shaking all over and whining if I take him to any other room in the house or even if I put him on the couch in the living room. I don't want him to be unhappy so after waiting 5 or 10 minutes for him to calm down (and he doesn't) I usually take him back to his little area. I always take his blanket and favorite toys when I try to introduce him to new areas and I give him a treat, but he's so scared he wont even look at any of it. Anyone have any ideas? |

| I haven't heard of that either. Murfee seems to be fine as long as I am with him. My suggestion would be just what you are doing...slowly introduce him to different places. By the way welcome to yt and good luck with the new little tyke. |

| Sounds like you are doing the right things. Are you picking him up and taking him there? If so try letting him follow. He see everything at a differant level remember. Get on your hands and knees and have him follow. That is what I did with Deiter. Good luck

| I am picking him up to take him into the other rooms because there's no way he'd go otherwise. My bedroom is upstairs and since he can't climb stairs, I have to carry him. A few days ago I tried to get him to come check out the stairs (not even walk on them, just smell them, etc) and he got all scared and ran to his bed. For this same reason we can't go on walks. He's too afraid to go anywhere. People keep telling me it's just because he's a puppy, but I've never a puppy like this. We had visitors that came by to see him today and he wagged his tail when he saw them but he was too afraid to let them pet him or anything. I gave them treats to give him and he very cautiously took one from them, but he never played the entire time they were here. He just stayed right beside his bed because that's where he feels safe. |

| If I remember right from your other posts, I think you've only had him about 3 weeks right? I'm not sure why he's so shy, but sounds like he's still adjusting. I'm guessing you'll need to give him a couple of months to feel comfortable. I wish I could tell you something more positive but he just seems shy. Give him time and space and tons of love and I'm sure he'll come around. Maybe get him some yorkie yummies from Chattiesmom (they are tiny) and leave a little trail every once in awhile from his comfort zone to where you are sitting and see if he'll wander out for some loves. Good luck

| Poor little one. He definitely sounds like he needs some confidence. What is his very favorite activity? Something he just can't resist? Perhaps if you do that activity and every couple of days inch ever so closer to the "evil boundary", he would conquer his fears in time. Best of luck. I look forward to reading more!
