| New Yorkie owner Just adopted a 6 month old yorkie and she is a love. Lola has been wonderful. We have had other dogs but never a yorkie. She is 6 pounds. Is that the normal size, large or small? I have lots of questions but for now any advice on yorkie behavior will be helpful thanks |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | Aww congrats! It's pretty normal, standard is 4-7 lbs. She might just stop growing or grow a little more. Welcome to YT!

| Congratulations, welcome to yt. Rockie is 6 months and 5 pounds. I've read that they can stop growing between 6 to 1 year. He does not eat as much now. The furbabies vary in size..The size of the sire and dam and grandparents can give you a general idea of your babys eventual weight. Their final weight can be a surprise |

| Welcome to YT! It sounds like you have an absolutely perfect baby! I definetely think a bigger one is better because you don't have to worry so much about "little" issues, like hypoglycemia and being fragile like the tinies. I worry alot less about my bigger yorkie than my itty bitty one. The next Yorkie I get, I will pick for size...and I mean Bigger!

| Standard is seven pounds and under. Sounds like she is a nice girl. Congratulations and welcome to YT. I copied and pasted this directly from the AKC site: Must not exceed seven pounds Last edited by Sugar's Mom; 11-17-2007 at 05:30 PM. |
