Donating YT 14K Club Member | Do not buy from this breeder. I went to look at some puppies today in Conroe, TX. The breeder's name is Sandy Butler. She lived in a nice home and had yorkies, standard chihuahuas, teacup chihuahuas, pugs and poms. The yorkie pups had very watery eyes and had not been socialized with humans very much. They did have cute faces but just not what I had looked for. Sandy told me that she studded out. Not an uncommon practice but she didn't have him on site nor did she have any pictures of him. She had told me on the phone that he weighed 3-3 1/4 lbs and mom weighed 5-6 lbs. Well, I had taken a friend with me so while I was studying the puppies, Colleen was talking to her. Sandy told Colleen at one time that the daddy weighed between 4-4 1/2 lbs then changed it later again to under 4 lbs. I saw the momma. When Colleen asked how much she weighed, she said, "Oh, between 5-6 lbs". If that lady thought she weighed between 5-6 lbs she needs to get her eyes checked. I picked up the momma while Sandy wasn't looking and momma must have weighed every bit of 10 lbs. Mom was in terrible shape. Very thin hair and had mats that went all the way to the skin. But that isn't the clincher. When you walk in her front door, she had 3 play pens set up. Yorkies, Pugs and standard chihuahuas. We must have spent at least 30 minutes there. I looked in the pugs' pen...diarrhea. I looked in the chihuahuas' pen...more diarrhea. That was it for me. I didn't need to look any more. This lady sells in the Houston Chronicle and her prices are very reasonable. She states that they are vet checked, health guarantee, etc. She told Colleen that she does all of their shots at home. The only time they are vet checked is when they have their tails and claws done 2-3 days after birth. Colleen got a copy of their health guarantee. The only part that really caught my interest is that you are not to take the puppy to a vet until contacting them first. You are not to give a puppy medication until you've contacted them first. If it is possible, an exchange can be made for a different puppy. Does any of this make sense to you?????

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That do NOT take to the vet part is UNREAL! Most breeders STRESS that you go right away - She sounds alot like Lloversyorkies in Richmond TX ...she had playpens set up in her home too and totally changed her contract to state that Parasites are NORMAL !! and as a matter of fact - In my earlier posts about her - She has a buddy that I spoke with on the phone who was totally rude once she knew I didn't want a puppy from them and her name was SANDY - WOW - I need to go see that phone number - |

| Yikes! I was going over there tomorrow to see one of the Yorkie pups she has for sale. Thanks for saving me the trouble! I hope she sells all her pups soon and gets out of the business. She told me that her sister breeds Yorkies in Conroe too. I'm going to check out her place since she has some Yorkie pups for sale. When I bought Zack, the contract said to take the puppy to the vet within the next 72 hours. I took it him to my vet the next morning. Thanks for the information on the breeder. Lisa

| This is just another example of how awesome forums can be when it comes to sharing our personal experiences and helping one another! Thank you for posting!!! BTW... I totally agree abt the vet part! It was in my contract also that I had to take them to the vet within the first 72 hours!

Thanks for starting this thread Kimberly, its great we can share breeder experiences on this forum, this thread may save someone from the heartache of buying from a bad breeder. Both Missy & Max's contracts said I had to take them to vet with in 72 hours. The thought that this breeder doesnt want you to take to the vet with out contacting her 1st raises a big red flag!

| I know it is a long way from you guys, but our breeder is near Paris, TX (up at the top) I thought he was wonderful. The dogs are outstanding, reasonably priced, well taken care of. His kennels are great. He is a great guy and has been a breeder - full time for about 20 years!

Betty is who I got my Chanel from 3 years ago. She is located in Richmond TX... Sandy who answered the phone one day at the Richmond location and said she Studs out for Betty and tried to sell me one of her yorkies saying they were better. When I questioned that - she went ballistic. Good luck - If you do go visit - ASK LOTS of questions - my experience was 3 years ago but it seems like yesterday. My hubby and I were pretty inexperienced and bought Chanel cause we fell in love - but what bothered me the most was ALL the yorkies were shaved down - AND in an outside kennel which she said was air conditioned - but I doubt it. | |

| SOME breeders will tell you any story. I and the 2 other responsible breeders that I know who post on here, Pat and Sylvan, are truthful. As Pat posted in the spinning thread, we do not like what can come back around and bite you in the butt. I feel that when all else is the same, the honest breeder is the one to whom people return. I mean say you went to a breeder and saw just the puppy-right size, sex, color, personality healthy. If one breeder is not totally honest and one is-you tell me which one you would deal with. When all is said and done, a breeder's reputation for fairness and honesty is what keeps them going.. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Another thing was that they puppies were 7 weeks and 1 day old. When we got there, a guy had just bought a yorkie and was leaving with it. Now, if I had found one that I liked and it looked healthy, I was going to pay a deposit and come back in a few weeks. In the Houston Chronicle, she had started advertising them when they were 6 weeks old.

| True Whispersmom2 - I feel that way dealing with everything. Honesty goes a long way towards my return business and referrals to friends. Those I don't like - watch out, I repeat those stories, too.
