| hypoallergenic okay so lately when i rub my yorkie beagan up to my face... my face breaks out in little bumps, turns red, and burns for a couple of minutes. this did not happen until last week (i've had him for 9 weeks now) from my understanding...this dogs fur is hypoallergenic. i just recently changed his diet to home cooking... i'm taking hair, skin, and nail pills, and i wash with aveeno everything... does anyone know why this is happening?

| Have you changed your yorkie's shampoo, conditioner, etc..? That's what I would check first. I would also check with your doctor or allergist, because I would question whether or not it's even an allergy at all. There are several other causes of facial rashes, so it's not necessarily allergy-based. I am so sorry this is happening to you. It must be hard to deal with.

| I am also thinking it is a reaction to whatever you are grooming your dog with. A typical pet allergy will be redness/puffiness of the eyes, swelling of the face and congestion.

| Do you bathe him often? If not, he could have allergens on his hair like grass, pollen, dust, etc.

| I have big time allergies I am so allergic to many dog shampoos and colognes. I do the same thing but my eyes are really affected an my hand swell when I use them. So this could be it. Whiting shampoo my mom uses on her maltese almost kills me... she can't use it when I visit. BUT ... what do you use for fleas. I can't hold my babies for 3 days after using it.... |

| I would say what everyone else is saying, it could be the diet, shampoo, etc. If you were allergic I assume you would've had a reaction from the beginning, but then again I bought a ginuea pig and wasn't allergic at first, but after awhile I started having allergic reactions and couldn't even be in the same room!

| Yorkies lose their puppy coats. Are you sure this isn't happening?

| well he did have his first groom last monday... i'm not sure what she used to wash him but i'm sure it's not what i use. i usually bath him once a week but i was told that's not healthy for the natural oils of his fur... so i wash him once every two weeks.... which i hate... anyway at what age does a yorkie loose his puppy coat?! he's growing up so fast i even saw his lipstick today! its amazing how fast they grow. i got him at 7 weeks... and nows he's almost 14 weeks!!!
