| How did you pick your Yorkie? Just wanted to see how others have made the decision to get the Yorkie(s) they own now. In my case, I found two yorkies 200 miles away from my house and 50 miles apart from each other. Rocky was the first one I took a look at and right away I knew he was the one, but I forced myself to take a look at the other pup which was an hour away. Rocky was just so sweet and small and just special, and he smelled like a cookie. I just new he was mine, and 3 weeks later I was able to take him home, and first thing he did when we came home was doing number 1 on a weewee pad I had in his little corner. The memories are so weet THis is the first pic when I first found him. |

Mom to Marty & Maddie Donating Member | Marty had the most personality out of his litter. He was SO active and just couldn't wait to give kisses. He was definitely the one for me! With Maddie, I read her story and saw her cute pics and just wanted more than anything to give her a happy life and a loving home. Last edited by AngieDoogles; 11-14-2007 at 06:31 AM. |

| I picked Cocoa out because he was the only chocolate in his litter and I thought that was neat and different. He also was the most playful and the biggest one. I definitely didn't pick the runt of the litter, lol. Now he is almost a year old (Dec. 15th) and weighs about 12 pounds. I wouldn't have him any other way

| I was visiting a girlfriend in Little Rock when we passed a business called ARKY Barky.... "what's that? Let's go see" The place had closed and relocated, but I could not get it out of my mind. I called when I got back to Memphis and asked if they had any yorkies (was in the market for one for daughter). I also asked how much they were. "We don't quote prices on the phone." So on my next visit I got girlfriend to take me to the new location. "do you have a little girl" Yes, sit down in this rocking chair. They brought her to me, I looked at her, she looked at me, and went for my hoop earring to chew on it. That pretty much did it, but still I walked away. The rest of the day was a blur. Lunch at some awful chinese buffet, going here and there. All day the words "A 100.00 deposit will take her off the floor and you can finance her." rang in my head. Later in the day, I whipped out my ATM card, called and put the deposit down. Have her ready to ride in the morning, we are headed back to Memphis. The next day she was placed behind my neck up on the arm rest of the car. She put her little head on my shoulder, and looked at me as if to say "Are you my new Mommie?' I told her that I was the grandmother, but I would love her, as her Mommie would. My daughter had NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO idea. When I got home I had the tiny package behind my back in one hand. I spoke to her, then brought my hand around. Amber starred at my hand to see if it was a toy or real. Mika moved, and my daughter's jaws flew open. She's yours, I said. My daughter reached for her and plopped down on the kitchen floor with a OH MY GOD MOM!!!!!!!!!!! It's been lover ever since. |

| i was researching for months on what type of dog would be perfect for me. once i decided on a yorkie, i searched tons of breeders in ontario looking for the perfect little one. there were tons of cute puppys, but none the "jumped out" at me. i was also very concerned with getting a pup from a breeder that i felt i could trust. then one day i was looking at pictures on an online advertising site and saw my little boy! i knew he was the one for me right away. all the time i spent researching breaders was thrown out the window as he was being adopted out by a young couple that didnt realize the time and effort a little pup needs and felt he deserved a better home. i was a little worried for not meeting the breeder or seeing the conditions my little guy was brought up in, but he wiggled his way into my heart and made himself a permanent home there! so far he has been healthy, happy and was very well socialized, so i know i made the right decision. wouldnt change him for the world! |

| When I first started looking I did some Google searches and came upon a breeder in FL. Since I was moving my sister down there at the same time some puppies were available, it was perfect. So on the way back from moving my sister - I stopped at the breeder's house and met all of the dogs. I got first pick of the females and I picked the one that was dosile - not the one that was jumping at my feet - she is now my Little Lillie and she is so perfect and such a pleasant dog. It took 6 months before she was ever vocal and now she is only vocal on demand. So when I wanted another one - I went to the same breeder as I can trust her and her puppies and that is how I got Gracie. Now I am looking at trying to add a third and will definitely get one from a breeder on this site. I wish I knew of this site prior to ever purchasing- I could have been a better purchaser.

| Here is a picture of the 3 pups we went to look at. We decided we liked the one on the left or the one in the middle. When we went to see them, the 2 we liked were playing with each other and not paying too much attention to us--just being adorable puppies and having fun. The third one (the one we didn't think was as cute in the picture) was just looking at us and then came over and sat between my 2 girls feet and looked up at them!!! That was it for us!! We put our deposit down on our little Bella that day! We didn't pick our Yorkie---she picked us! It was a great day!

| We went to a backyard breeder (don't yell, I know that is bad now). I had 600.00 to spend and there was an add for pups starting at 600.00. I called and found they were close by and made arrangements to see the 2 pups they said were 600.00. I met with the dtr of the lady I had talked to and she sd she only had 1 pup and it was for 650.00. I know I should have left right then esp since it looked like she had 2 hernias, but Gypsy looked me in the eyes and I fell in love. We gave her 600.00 cash and a ck for 50.00 and took her home with us. She had some health problems (she did have hernias but they went away on their own so I was lucky) after I got her but she is now very healthy and is the love of my life. She is a quiet thing for the most part and loves to cuddle, just what I was looking for.

| I did not pick Susanah. Susanah picked me. I spent two weeks at my breeder's home doing some work with/for her. Out of the yorkie babies she had I thought Susanah was the ugliest little thing (sshhh don't tell her I said that). In fact, she had several people come to see puppies while I was there and I tried my best to sell her TWICE. Well, little miss persistent kept following me around calling me Mommy. I kept telling her I wasn't her mommy and she kept telling me yes I was. Finally I was sitting on the floor playing with another little puppy that was getting ready to head to the airport when Susanah climbed in my lap, yawned, stretched out and went to sleep. I quietly whispered, "Alright, I am your mommy." She opened one eye and looked at me like, "See? I told you so!"

YT Addict | Happy B Day to ME! Well first my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday. (hit him up big time) I told him I wanted a Yorkie.(Happy birthday to me) My mil has a boy and he is just wonderful. Not two seconds later he is on the phone with his Cousin in NY who is big into pet care and knows all the breaders around there and she was abel to get me a little girl for only $600. ( I have hubby trained so well ) Needless to say I was thrilled and Bella was just perfect. Bella may live in ME but she has that NY attitude for sure! Anyhow my cousin in law is now like my fav and we are always talking about our pets it's awsome! I have to say I married into a great family! |

| The place I work at took part in a big rescue of Yorkies-- 30+ dogs of all ages from pups right up to ones that were 15 years old or older. In the initial group, there were six puppies that were all about the same age. Five out of the six were little, adorable things with standy-up ears and fatter little noses. Then there was one puppy who was bigger than the rest by a LOT, had a pointier nose, and whose ears did a kind of one-up, one-down flip-flop. She was a very outgoing puppy, in love with every person she met, and feared nothing despite having come out of a pretty bad situation. People would come in to look at the puppies, and immediately eliminate her from their lists of potentials, saying things like, "She's too big!" and "She has an ugly nose!" All the while, I was growing closer and closer to her... and eventually, she wound up being the pick of the litter-- I got sick of people being so blind to how wonderful she was, and I took her home before any of her "cuter" littermates got their forever homes. I think she's turned out to be beautiful too.
