Yorkie Help Hi, I am new here with my darling 5 1/2 month old Sassy... I let her sleep with me now, since potty training has gone well. Big problem she has peed on the bed twice. I do have a 3yr old JRT (Mini) that has always slept with us. Do not know what to do. She can get on and off the bed if she wants. She peed the second night she was on our bed... And I thought it was over till last night she peed again. 2 times in about 2 weeks. What do I need to do. Please Help. I love having my Sassy with us at night I know she enjoys not being alone

Mojo did that 2 times...i was soooo maddd!! There could be a lot of reasons why she is doing this...maybe to mark her territory, show who is the boss...or just because now smells like pee and she thinks it is ok. What worked on Mojo was...cleaning it very well so he couldn;t smell his "mark"(you can use those odor eliminator for dog..or even a water/white vinegar solution to get rid of all the smell - remember that dog;s nose is more sensitive than ours).

Thanks Babbie for anserwing, I did use the odor eliminator, the first time and did again yesterday, last night she did not pee on the bed...lol but she did wake me at 1:00 am to go out, which is better than peeing on the bed. Maybe she is marking because of the other dog sleeping in the bed also, but I will try the water/vinegar this weekend to make sure it is really clean Thanks for the tip

Wow...now that's improvement. Hope she doesn;t have any more accidents. For the vinegar, it is just a tiny bit of vinegar in a lot of water water...i would say about 5:1.

Hi! Welcome. I was told by the trainer that help me train my charlie you should not allow your dogs to sleep with you there first year. This way they do not try to show domince. This also helps them not pee in the bed. charlie is now 2 and never has pee in the bed. I have a ramp for him to get up and down from the bed. If he has to go he goes on the newspaper in the bathroom. I hope this is helpful I know it is hard not to want to put them in the bed with you but it pays in the long run.

Another thing you might try is picking up the water dish in the evening. Dogs are like kids, if they drink late in the evening, they are going to have to pee it out. I also trained mine by asttaching a leash to ehm and if they moved away from the area where they sleep to go potty, it woke me up and I would let them out, or onto their piddle pads.

Thanks for all the tips, Sassy does not like being alone, she cries all night if she is left alone. So that is why she sleeps with me. She has her own doggie door so she can go at will. So I guess I will hang tuff and not sleep much until she is able to hold it at night. I will cut her water off tonight at 9:30 and she how she does tonight. Keep your fingers crossed. Thanks Raine

it takes time for new puppies to adjust and become comfortable enough to be alone in their environment.... when i got toby a week and a half ago, i couldnt leave his sight without him whineing (even if i was just on the other side of the bed, if he couldnt SEE me then he assumed he was alone) and that went for sleeping in his crate as well, he hated his crate because he was alone in there, so..... he started to sleep with my boyfriend and i, it took him this long to understand that we are always coming back to him and we would never leave him, so now (as of the last two nights or so) he PREFERS to sleep in his crate (this means NO MORE GETTING UP IN THE NIGHT TO GET HIM OFF THE BED ) I've had my FIRST uninterupted sleep in a week..... The thing that helped with toby's little "separation issues" was a place where he could just go and chill, it was a place that was his and no one elses (his crate) and now he prefers to sleep there as well.... the real thing that helped was TIME, he just needed to adjust, (as a side note: i think the breeder we got toby from didnt interact with him or socialize him well with people, so naturally he got love and attention from us and LATCHED on and wouldnt let go.. hence the separation issue..... hope it all works out, some people actually prefer their pets to sleep with them.... i think there was someone on here that had like four or five yorkies in bed with them
