Is my yorkie normal in height? Hello, I am relatively new to YT. I have a yorkie who is 19 weeks old, weighs 1 pound 2 ounces(according to the food scale), he is only 4 inches tall. If that! His little belly is only off the ground by 2 inches, if that. Is this normal? He doesn't look like he will ever grow taller. His little legs are very fragile and fine boned. Oh yeh, short too. How tall should he get? Thank you for your input and information.

Wow, that is very tiny. I'm not exactly sure how tall they should get but I have a yorkie about the same age as yours, he was born on Vaentine's day! and he is 2.7lbs and from the feet to the middle of his back he is 7 inches, 3.5 inches from floor to belly. he is 9.5 inches long and expected to be between 3-4 lbs fuly grown. By the sound of things your doggie is probably going to be half to 3/4 the size of my pup. Out of curiosity, where did you get him?

| WELCOME TO YT!!! Have you gotten your little guy checked out by the vet? That sounds awfully small for 19 weeks. My little girl is tiny, weighing at almost 2lbs at 17 weeks but she is about 6 inches tall, but 4 seems awfully small. As long as he's healthy though. I couldn't tell you big he would get because they can go through a sudden growth spurt. Do you have pictures of your baby??

| Hi and welcome! He is very small. What is his name? Love to see pictures. Agree, if he is healthy, that is the main thing. Be careful with that little one, they are very fragile.

Thanks for answering Chewysmom, and vainchick5, I got him from a breeder in Missouri.Lakeviewacres Kennel. I had to fly from Sacramento, CA. to Tulsa, where they met me. I have had him for 5 weeks now. I had him checked by his vet, a cardiologist, and an orthopedic specialist. Sounds crazy, huh? But I was worried because I have heard horror stories of all the illnesses Yorkies are prone to. I would also like to express my sadness to Vainchick5 about her breakup. You are young, and someone else will come along, or he will come back. Men come and go, but your baby(yorkie) will always be there for you!!!

Thank you! But I have noticed he is a little bald, his hair is so thin. I think this could be a side affect of being so small. Do you thin is hair will ever grow in like other Yorkies? I think all the yorkies that I have seen on this forum are all adorable. I am used to only big dogs, this is my first tiny dog. I can see now why you are all crazy for yorkies.

His hair looks great, it's actually a little shorter than Chewy's, his is starting to grow over his eyes so I have to put it up! Your boy is absolutely lovely.

Chewy's hair is gorgeous! It looks full! He is just the "cutest".If you really look at Rupert's picture, wherever you see white, that is his scalp! He is almost bald, except around his muzzle. I hope Rupert's hair becomes as nice as Chewy's.

How much does he weigh? Just curious, do you live in Sacramento? There has been posts by others in the past about their yorkie's hair thinning at about 5 or 6 months I believe. I thought Tinkerbell was thinning on top as well at about 3 months old but turned out she just had very light color coming through and looked bald.

hi and welcome my rosie went bald at about 11 weeks so i took her to the vets and she had a skin infection the vet gave her a jab and it has cleared up lovely (at last), the funny thing is were the fur fell out on her hind and front legs its grown back blue so she has blue legs black body and a tan head, but i love her loads. rosie is 5 months on the 6th july and weighs 6lb shes all cuddly and yummy. if you have had her checked out by a vet and there are no physical problems you may just have a very very tiny yorkie (how sweet) dont worry she may even grow some more. wendy and rosie
