| So angry about puppy mills Yesterday my mom, sister, aunt, and my two daughters went shopping and while we at the mall me my aunt and younger daughter went inside the pet store to look around plus I needed some dog food for Jazzi. They had all these dogs in there that they were selling for very high prices. They also had two yorkie puppies 8 wks old with no price attached. I was curious so I ask how much. Well the woman gives me the dog and puts us in this room while she goes to get the paperwork. She comes back with the paperwork and starts her spill. This puppy is 8wks old AKC.....bah bah bah. Then she says he is also fixed....what???? Me and my aunt, both yorkie owners and lovers of the breed were wondering what the heck. Then she says well yah they fix some of them b/c they may have genenic defects but she could not tell me if he did or not. Then she says we get all of our puppies from the Midwest b/c they are nationally certified. I am thinking wow aren't you special. I was so heated, I thought about it all night. By the way they were selling this possible genetically defected puppy from a Midwestern puppy mill for $2100. Oh I could also finance it if I wanted to for $125 per month!! |

| They just opened a puppy store In Winchester called the Puppy Cottage. They have their puppies in cribs up high where you have to ask to hold one. They have little collars on them with the breed and prices on them. I held the little yorkie, he was $1400 and the maltese was $1600. My friend asked where they get all the puppies from. The lady said "from breeders that keep them in there homes, they are not puppy mill dogs. I see the look on your face." We were like yeah right! It makes me mad because we didn't have other stores that sell puppies around here. Rescues and shelters take their dogs to Petsmart and Petco. Now we have a puppy store. I don't think it will last. I don't think a lot of people around here will pay that much for dogs. Also with all the publicity that puppymills are getting I hope people don't buy from them.

| I know what you mean. I was so upset. Esspecially when she told me my Jazzi was small because my "in state breeder" was breeding "teacup" puppies. Excuse me but Jazzi's mommy is 5-6lbs and her daddy was 4-5lbs and I saw them both with my own eyes!! Jazzi is just small. She said she must have been the runt. Uh no she wasn't. Her sister which my aunt owns is 4 months and is 4lbs already. Jazzi is 2lbs and some change but totally healthy and bad as heck!! |

| It makes me so sad to see all the animals in shelters. I know this is a website where alot of people have bought their yorkies and I totally understand why. I would buy one myself because they are such good dogs. But I adopted mine, he doesnt have a register or anything, just himself. He looks like a yorkie and our vet said he was, but I dont care what he is, I just know that he is wonderful and loving and amazing. While the puppy mills are very sad, I wish there were more people who would adopt. I just wanted to take all the dogs home from the pound when I saw them in there (of course im not financally secure enough to do so) What makes me more sad than seeing dogs in petsmart or somewhere is the dogs in the shelter. I know they try to take good care of them but sometimes some of the dogs get abandoned. My puppy was getting peed and pooed on. I cried when we left because I couldnt take him right away because the shelter has to wait so long to see if the real owners will come back to get him. They didnt and I got him. But I wish more people would look into adopting. I feel so blessed to have him in my life. I feel like I will always adopt because there are so many dogs that need rescuing. Sorry for rambling, this just made me think of the pound.

| I feel you. I would have a million pets if my husband wouldn't divorce me, lol. My sister has a friend who doesn't want her yorkie anymore and I am trying to convince my family into letting me take her. |

| See I dont understand that, how could someone not want a yorkie? They are so loving. And I would be the same way, I would have a million dogs if I could properly take care of all of them!

| She's young and wants her freedom. Some people don't realize what a commitment it is and that yorkies are not just eye candy and something to dress up though it is fun. |

| We stopped into Petland for treats today before going to dinner on Benchwood in Dayton, OH. There was the sweetest little girl yorkie in there (ears up maybe 1 1/2 lbs) and it just broke my heart.... she was in a cage with no mat or flooring with another puppy and she was snuggling as close as she could get because she was shivering. I wanted her but could not ask anything about her because i knew i would want to get her so we had to leave. How can i get her and support a puppy mill - i cant! But i cant stop thinking about her. |
