| More than one yorkie?? Hi! I was wondering if those of you with more than one yorkie could tell me if your 1st yorkie changed at all when you got the 2nd, 3rd, etc. Sometimes I feel that we should get another so Zeus will have a playmate, but I am just worried that his personality will change. He is just so loving right now and a total Mama's boy, I just really don't want that to change. So.....should I get another? Do you think it is better for them to have another dog in the house? Thanks so much for the advice!!

| I think it's better for them to have a playmate. When I got my little Katie, Codie totally LOVED her! He was even more playful and happy. I guess it depends on the dog itself but I think an addition to your family would be fine. My dogs play all day together and are always kissing and sleeping together - it's so cute!

| I am selfish, I want Coco alllll to myself. I don't want to share her. She has fun with me and I have fun with her. Besides I think I'd go crazy with 2 of her right now...haha..playmate is a good idea though. I just can't do it yet.

| Thanks Jennifer! That is nice to hear. I think I am just being selfish and I don't want another dog to take away from my Zeusy time!! I really think we might look into getting another for Zeus' sake. And Nobella, I know what you mean! I love that Zeus wants to spend so much time with me. I don't know how I would handle it if he stopped!

| I feel the same way as you Zeus' mom, but I know he would enjoy a playmate because he loves other dogs so much. My mother-in-law has a little female jack russell so when we visit her and come home, Miko gets all depressed because he misses her so much! We've been looking at different breeders, hoping to get a female yorkie within the next few months too. |

| If asked about that, I tell the person that a single puppy bonds more readily with their humans.JMHO Two together have a tendency to be pals to each other. Plus, 2 littermates of puppies the same age are gonna have the same problems at the same time when the age..You need to be prepared to lose both at the same time..I say consider the options and what your motivation is for getting multiples and go from there.. |

| I have two yorkies. Chachi really didn't change except he is probably more playful. Too always get into mischief together. I got a male and a female so I would have one of both. Good luck in your decision.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | When Magic was about 4 months we noticed that she seemed lonely at times, esp. when we couldn't play with her...and we thought a playmate would really help that, so we found Sailor...and it was the best decision we ever made...no only do we get the love from two wonderful yorkies but while we are busy they have each other to play with and pick on...I would say that two is better one, but you have to be comfortable with your decision!!!

I'm Maggie playmate and litter mate. Whatever she wants to do or play with, I'm right there. I think if I had two, then I would need to grow a bigger lap. I really like having ALL of her attention. If I had two, I may not be needed as much.

| Thank you all so much for you stories! I know what you mean Brenda, I worry about that too. I just don't want to be a selfish Mommie and keep Zeus from being even happier than he already is!! My husband and I work all day and Zeus is at home with the 2 cats, who are very lazy. I know he probably sleeps all day, but it just breaks my heart to think that he is at home and lonely with no one to play with. I'll keep you guys updated on what we decide!

| WOW! Timing on this question is perfect.(Farrah, have you been reading my mind?) I sent an application to the United Yorkie Rescue last night for a little mixed yorkie boy that seemed to have a very compatible personality & needs to my Saffie. Saffie just loves playing with other dogs but they're none around her except at obedience class & since I'm too old & too fat to be running around the house playing "chase me", I thought a playmate would be ideal. If one yorkie is heaven, then 2 must be double heaven! Also, when hubby & I go for our walks, we'd each have a dog. |

| Martym112, that is too cute!! Please keep me updated. If we get another it won't be right away. And I know what you mean about playing, I just don't have the energy that he has!! Good luck with yorkie rescue!!

| I hope I get the little guy from the rescue but if not, I'll keep looking. I'd prefer to get one from the rescue as those furbabies need good homes but if time passes & there isn't one available (which in a way would be a good thing...it means that all the babies have homes) I might just buy another. I'd like a yorkie but I'm open to other small dogs, too. Will keep you updated & of course, if anyone has any advice or suggestions, I would gratefully welcome it! Marty |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Chester was so disgusted that he completely ignored me the day Gracie came home. He wouldn't even look my way! It took a couple of days for him to get use to her and now, the two are inseperable!

| Aww poor Chester! It just took him a little time to get accustomed to having a girl around! |
