| Anyone else being asked this question? Does anyone else have strangers asking you how much you paid for your Yorkie? Mocha goes just about everywhere with me, so he's met a lot of people already. I was really surprised with the amount of people who have asked me how much I paid for him. I've had more people ask me how much he cost, than people asking me what his name is . Whenever I've gone out and seen somebody with cute little furbaby, it never even crosses my mind to ask them how much they paid for him/her. I personally think it's quite rude. It makes me uncomfortable whenever somebody asks. Some people react with the impression "OMG, why would you ever pay that much for a dog?!"...even though I paid the normal going rate for Yorkies around here. Does this happen to a lot of Yorkie owners? I've gone out in public with my cousin's chihuahua and nobody ever asked how much he cost. Is this just a Yorkie thing? |

| I always say cheap he/she was a rescue. Maybe this way they won't want to steal them.

| I have been asked a few times too, mainly people at work who were like.. 'you paid THAT MUCH for a dog'!!!! The thing thats annoying me most is idiots who see me out with her and call her a rat amongst other things, i just dont understand why they think they can be so rude and insulting! I don't know what it is about these little dogs but they seem to attract the wrong attention sometimes...but not always i have to add..some people have been lovely and are just in awe of my Pixie...and rightly so! LOL

| I think it is all ways rude/impolite to ask someone that you don't know how much they paid for something, unless its something big like a car, flat screen tv, etc. Since Chip is a 15 lb teapot, I never get asked that question. I usually get asked what he is, because the general public only knows of yorkies being little ones. Which probably has to do with you getting asked about the price tag. Yorkies are the "dog of the moment", just like JRT's were and people had no idea they were high energy and then ended up in shelters.

| When people ask me how much Rockie was, I normally just tell them. If anyone says anything negative it's probably behind my back. But of course I didn't pay for Rockie my daughter did |

| I had a girl the other day ask if Barney was a yorkie. Then ask where the breeder is located. Said she has been looking around for one....the she asked me how much. I was ok with it just because she seemed to know a little about yorkies. I didnt pay as much for Barney as most of you paid. He was the last one out of the litter and he was getting older. I think 18 weeks...but dont quote me on that. The breeder seemed to have a lot of yorkies and only one place to keep a preg mom and pups. We got him for 500 and that included all his puppy shots. My vet knew the breeder to and trusted the shots. So that saved us money. |
