| Stainless steel bowl ? Here's the deal....Gizmo has a raised food and water bowls made out of stainless steel. The bowls are removed to wash and fill. Water is no problem, he drinks from the stainless steel bowl just fine. I guess it keeps it cooler, and he likes it cool. Now for the weird part....he doesn't like to eat his food from the stainless steel bowl! What's up with that?? He will eat the exact same food if I pour it out right next to the bowl directly on the placemat underneath. Does anyone else's yorkie do this? Does anyone know why he does it? Enquiring minds want to know.

| Do you always put the water in the same side? What if you put his food in the water bowl and water in the food bowl? I don't have any explanation, just trying to figure out if you can trick him?

| Oh good! I'm not alone. I've wondered if the stainless steel affects the taste of the food in some way??

| It must be another "yorkie thing" cause my girl is the same way. Will eat off the floor or a flat saucer. Maybe they don't like the rim of a bowl for the food.

That is weird. It shouldn't affect the taste. Our human food tastes the same in stainless steel as in glass or anything else. Could it be that the level of the food is higher than it is comfortable for him to eat? It is a little harder to pick up the kibbles than to drink the water. Just a thought. Try feeding him in the same bowl, but on the floor not on the stand. Then you will know if it is the height and not the bowl itself. Mine all eat and drink out of stainless steel bowls with no problem, but I don't use a stand.

| Judy...Winston has stainless steel bowls too. He has water in one and his dry kibble in the other. Does Gizmo eat dry or wet food? Winston will grab a mouth full of kibble from the bowl and takes it into the dining room, spits it all out and eats it piece by piece off the floor. Don't know why but he's always done that.

| If I put the bowl out of the stand and just on the floor he still won't eat out of it. |

| I tried putting the bowl directly on the floor with the same issue. The bowl is about two and a half inches deep, so maybe it's too deep? I will look for a bowl that is more shallow and try that.

| I just think it's the funniest thing...we eat in the kitchen, so it's not because he wants to be with us. And he's an only dog, so it's not like somebody is going to take his food...his bowl is full all the time, he's not starving...but he prefers to eat in the dining room...off the floor.
