| What The Heck Is He Doing??????? Okay, just wondering if anyone else's baby does this. In the evenings when I get home, I notice when Tucker isn't romping and playing, he will occasionally get one of his soft, stuffed toys, latch onto it with his teeth and then kind of massage his paws against it as if he is nursing. You know, kind of like cats when they knead on things or people. Sometimes when he is doing this, he whines a little or makes kind of a hissing noise in the back of his throat. He often falls asleep like this too. He was 10 weeks old when I got him and only started doing this recently around the time he began losing his puppy teeth - so I don't think it was an early weaning issue or anything. My guess is his teeth are hurting and in seeking comfort he reverts to his babyhood at mommy's breast... Anybody else seen this kind of behavior or have any thoughts on this? Just curious... Thanks, Dana |

| My chihuahua does the same thing.......she is now 1 year old but still does this "pacifier thing" with s little stuffed snowman. I was going thru some old things way back before Christmas and came across this dirty little stuffed snowman....I just pitched it in the floor and Apple grabbed it and brought it back to me...(soooooo cute)....then I just let her keep it for a toy. We would throw it and play 'fetch'.. Then one night I noticed she had drug the thing up on the couch with her and was holding it in her mouth and falling asleep....just like a pacifier..... She still does the same thing almost every night.....and since geting Lil Bit (in Feb 05) she is willing to share all things EXCEPT the little stuffed snowman. And heaven forbid if Lil Bit gets the notion she is going to take the thing away when Apple is sleeping. I think it is the cutest thing......I hope she is not somehow demented because I let her maintain bad habits!!!!! :Puppy: |

| Maybe it just reminds them of their mama's. Were they adopted at a really young age? It is probably just self soothing and they've found a way to help put them to sleep faster, like kids that suck their thumbs. I guess it's ok as long as it's not hurting them or detrimental to their development.

| Oh yes, I have seen this. My best friend's Bulldog does this. It's loud when he does it though, because he can barely breathe as is, then with his mouth full it's just a lost cause. |

| I think it's so sweet when our Yorkie's find comfort in their toys or whatever. Tuck'sMom, maybe you can capture a picture next time Tucker is doing this as I bet it would make a precious picture.

| Maggie has a little stuffed chicken (about the size of an egg) in her bed, that is her cuddle mate. When she goes into a deep sleep, I have actually watched her little mouth work like she is sucking.

| I got Apple when she was 3 months old.....ditto with Lil Bit....I really LIKE pups to be with their moms as long as possible...The dogs I have had just seemed better adjusted and carried better 'manners' when left with mom for a while. I do have several photos of Apple sleeping with the snowman in her mouth (regular photos....can't get the hang of the old Sony digital and this dinasour computer).....but Apple looks like some evil aligator clutching that thing....even sleeping. She looks sooooo mean.....and all the extra teeth make it look even worse. |

| Yep, I'm hoping for a digital camera for my birthday in July so I'll be able to take and post more pictures - the only ones I have are so old. I just never seem to get the disposable cameras developed or I lose them, etc. Dana |
