| hi. i'm new i'm new. i have a 6 month old yorkie-pom.she is just as cute as she can be. she has what i think a yorkie face and a pom body. my husband says she's ugly but i don't think so. my problem with her is that she does'nt listen. i will let her outside to play then try to call her back in and she will ignore me. if we leave and we can't catch to put her in the house she will follow our car and try to get in the highway. any ideas why she won't listen. also she does'nt like people or strange animals. she barks and growls at them. thanks nena |

| Welcome to YT!!! Have you done obedience training with her? Aubrey and I are going through this problem. And sometimes hes not able to be out on his own. He has to be on his leash, because sometimes he just doesn't listen to me. |

| I have 5 furbabies. I bought a 'clicker' at Petsmart and started using it in the house. I click it, then give them a treat. It's not long before they associate the clicker noise with the treat. Now when one of mine is starting to go too far for my comfort, I use the clicker and they come running! Make sure you have treats. But do it without the treats sometimes too, as it could save a pups life if you need their attention asap without time to grab a treat. Good luck!

| Welcome to YT. I'd love to see pictures of your baby- what is her name? It is really important that you not let her run loose outside. Besides the threat of cars which is a big one, you also have to worry about hawks and the possibility of her being stolen. I'm sure we'd all love to see pictures.

| yes, I would also like to see pictures of your yorkiepom! i think you need to do some exercises with your baby...try sitting with her and calling her name. give her lots and lots of praise if she comes to you! if this doesn't work, try offering her a treat after you call her name. good luck! |

| Hello and welcome to YT. I don't know what I would do if I had not found this forum! One of the first things I read here was getting your baby to come to you. I started off by saying...."Come, Noah." When he obey me I would give him a treat he is crazy about (Mini Naturals Zuke's). Try that a few times a day until he makes the connection. I would never leave Noah outside alone. So many people steal these dogs, and we live in the country and have Hawks flying all over the place. Noah doesn't come to my command as well when he is outdoors as he does inside. I figure it is due to all the distractions, he wants to check out everything that moves he just can't resist even if he knows he should do as I say. Hope you get this problem solved. Linda |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | She doesn't listen because she's inquisitive and only 6 months old! Take her places with you that allow dogs to get her socialized. Welcome to YT!

| Welcome to YT This site is very helpful and kinda addictive I had a similar problem with Meka for a while, but you just have to be consistant. Its also helpful to do random "training excersizes" with them so that they are familiar with the commands before being asked.

| Welcome to YT. Sounds like she needs some serious obiedence training. The last thing you want is for her to run away from you, and obiedence training will help her with socialization.
