| Potty training.....aaarrrrhhhhh!!!! Tucker is finally sleeping through the night! He sleeps on my bed and I always get up once to go, so I would grab him and take him with me to the bathroom, where there is a wee-wee pad. Well, for several nights in a row he just curled up on the pad and went to sleep. So for the last couple of nights I didn't wake him when I got up, and he sleeps all night! (9:30 to 5) He will go into the bathroom to poop, but usually misses the pad. I tell him his intentions are good, but his aim is horrible. He'll also go on the pad if I put him on it. He pees every single time we take him out. But, he he will also pee anywhere in the house he wants to. Sometimes it's on the pad, sometimes it's in the hall outside of the bathroom. He doesn't seem to think there is anything wrong with just squatting whereever he is. If we grab him and run outside he goes out there, but 10 minutes later, he goes in the hallway again. Help!!! I know he is young, not quite 12 weeks but he seems to understand the poop part, why not the pee?

| I think the problem with yorkie owners is that the dog is so cute that people do forget that it is, in fact a dog. He goes everywhere because you give him the run of the roost. He doesn't even sleep in his own area, he sleeps with you. I would suggest you crate train him. He should never, I mean never, be able to walk around the house by himself ever, it should be 100% supervision. When he is fully trained, that is when you can give him the run of the roost. Right now though he's not trained or even training so he goes wherever. He should spend most of his life at this point in a crate. Also if you fed him on a schedule you would even have an idea of when he had to go. Crate training and feeding schedule absolutely was the way to go for my wife and I. Most of the time we can just say "go potty" and she will go to her pad and go. Train him now for years of enjoyment, otherwise it will be years of frustration and cleaning up poop and pee. Good luck.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | thanks!! yea whenever we see him go on the rug we grab him and take him outside. then he goes potty and we bring him righ tback in. oh yea i forgot to mention we heard you have to take him out on a regular basis. we take him out every 30 minutes when he's awake. most of teh time when he doesn't go at the right place its right by the door or in the hallway by the bathroom. it seems like he doesn't make it to either in time sometimes. thanks for the help!
