| wee monster im sure this has been posted millions of times but i'm having potty training issues. 9.5 weeks. he wees outside but 5 minutes later... he comes in and wees on the carpet. luckily i have a towel down because i just got BRAND new carpet so i don't want it to smell .. but still... everytime. i take him out every haf an hour during the day and he still goes!!! the only place he will not go is his tote crate... what in the woooorld? and when i try to discipline him... he doesn't take it seriously and wants to play... i use a strong, firm voice, i don't spank (i hate that idea) he just doesn't seem to get it.

| So, the puppy is 9.5 weeks, right? That is really young. He probably doesn't have 100% yet. Are you crate training?

| LOL...I must have been tired when I replied to this. I meant that he probably doens't have 100% control yet. Puppy sleeps in crate. Take him out to pee. If he pees he gets to stay out and play. If he doens't he goes back in for about 1/2 hour and try again. This goes on all day. There are a few variations to this. Hope this helps you.

So, as far as crate training goes, you put him in his crate and make sure you watch him. If it's about time that he has to pee and he wants to get out of the crate (whines/whimpers/some signal), take him out side the crate, and put him outside(or pee pad where ever you want him to pee). He'll sniff around and pee. When he does that, praise him and give him treat or something, right after he pees. After he pees, come back to your room. Do not play with him outside after he pees. If, when you go outside, he doesn't pee within 5~7 minutes, take him back into the crate, wait 10 min or so, take him back outside to pee. You have to make sure going outside is not associated with playing, he has to understand he's going outside to pee. Of course, if you went outside and he pee-ed, you can come back in and then go outside to play with him if you want =) Hope that helps!

| When Soleil was having lots of accidents last week..she is 5 months..I put her in the crate at night..right outside..back in the crate for like an hour..then back outside..THEN let her have some play time...BACK outside and back in the crate again...it was pretty intense but she needed that reinforcement to "get it" again...she had a little slip up there last week but this week we have had no accidents in the house...YAY Soleil...9 weeks is very very young but with consistency you will be fine!!
