| Help! Housebreaking not going well. Hi, We have a new yorkie baby 21 weeks old (little over 5 months). We've had her for 6 weeks and our housebreaking is not going well. She goes outside just fine. Holds it all night in her crate, holds it during the day but at night when we're home if we don't take her out every 30 minutes we find a puddle. Why is she doing this? She even has two other dogs as examples. Our 10 year old yorkie and our 11 year old terrier mix never have accidents and she follows them around the yard and has a close and personal view of what they do outside. Is she mad at us? We actually went nearly 2 days without an accident, thought we turned the corner then the next evening about 4. Please help with suggestions. |

| would you say the amount she takes in (water... wet food) is the amount the she expels? How big is she? The smaller they are the tinier that bladder is You might consider putting bells on the door you use to take her out... ring it every time you take her out (every 30 min) quickly she will get the idea that if she wants to go out.. she rings the bell... at first i used to give Layla treats every time she would ring the bell.. then a treat when she peed/pooed outside... it took a bit but she got the idea.... if she is peeing more than she is taking in you might want to ask the vet to make sure everything is ok. but clealry she can hold it as she odes all night.. but she isnt' drinking during the night OR being active.... keep with it |

| If she doesn't have anything medically wrong.... Can you limit her water in the evening? We do that with Coby (he pees a lot!). Also, and I'm not saying this is happening, are you watching her like a hawk in the evening? When Coby was having accidents, it was really me that was failing. After working all day, there were times where I just wasn't dilligent in watching. When I really buckled down and focused, that's when we got over the hump. If I wasn't willing to watch like a hawk, I rekenneled him. But you're probably better than I was, so I also found that the every 30 minute route was a little too much. It seemed to reinforce going "whenever/all the time". So I stretched it out slowly - 45 min - 1 hour. Let us know what you try and WHAT WORKS!
