| Retraining... pee pads Mocha has been going outside to potty all summer long, with the occasional accident if someone doesn't see her standing by the door. Now with the mornings being cold she runs back into the house and pees on my rug. I have a pee pad area right by the door she uses to go out, so how do I retrain her to use it again. She was pad trained prior to the summer. Being this her first summer once she got a taste of the outside and fresh air she stopped using the pad. I kept them out in the same spot all summer just incase she needed them. I've tried putting her on the pad and saying "potty", she just walks right off. HELP! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i'd just make her do it outside. morgan tried that on me when it started to get cold this past winter (i got her in july so she was used to the warm weather too). when i realized she wasn't going outside and just pretending so she could get in faster i had to go out there with her on a leash and make her stay out until she actually went. after a few days of this she figured its better to actually do it all quick and then come back instead instead of pretending a few times and staying out there longer (she's 4lbs and i still make her do this. a few minutes of really cold temps isn't going to hurt her)

| Put a little sweater on her, and make her go outside.
