| Another potty training problem Angel is about 3 months and 3 weeks old. We are trying to potty train her using the Crate style training method. Whenever we cannot monitor her or its potty time we put her in the crate and watch her until he goes. Unfortunatly she will not go in the box but instead prefers to sleep in the dog litter and pee on the bedding. any suggestions? |

| Welcome to the group. Usually dog don't like to pee where they sleep. Sometimes if you decrease the amount of crate space will prevent them from peeing in their crate. However, if you crate her too long and she has to go, she will go. So you might want to think about that and figure out if you are crating her for too long. What are you doing to encourging her to use the potty in the litterbox? She may not know that the litterbox is the place where she is suppose to pee. Placing some of her pee in the litterbox(for the scent) may help her understand that concept. |

| I have tried it all and now i am convicned that i will just have to scratch everything and start over. This is the methog i was using before. http://www.kturby.com/litter/litter.htm It seems to have a low success rate for Yorkies. Can someone reccomend the best way to train this particular breed of dog. Walk me through it from beggining to end. Angel is only 12 weeks old so its not to late to start over. |

| I started by blocking off a room for Maximus..I choose the living room because it has wood floors and I am there with his dad often...I put down 2 wee wee pads and he was blocked off with the baby gate. He had a couple of accident but I bought the simple solutions housebreaking aid spray..(you spary on the pads and it has phermones that attract him there)...After about 2-3 weeks he was having no accident and he is now almost 18 weeks old..I got him at 10 weeks, but I never crated him..he has a crate which I leave open 24-7 and I just gated the room..I think you could do the same thing with crate ..just let him out every couple of hours that you are not with him..
