| How to Teach My Yorkie To Stay My puppy has only mastered how to high five and sit... I've been trying to teach him how to stay by having treats in my hand, and counting seconds before i give it to him and say stay... but if I move away he just follows, which defeats the whole purpose. how'd you guys do it?

| I think you are on the right track but you will have to teach him to one step at a time. Spend a day or two having him sit and stay while you back up one small step. I would give him a treat for "sit", another one for "stay" for holding for a couple of seconds, then another one for "stay" after you take your step back.. Once he has mastered this, you can take 2 small steps. |
