| Crate training Needs help I crate my yorkie all night, and in the morning he/she will make noise to let me know that he/she needs to go. I have pads in my room, as soon as i let him out of his crate, i bring him to the pad, but he refuses to pee there. after 10 secs, he will pee on the floor, so i have a firm "NO" then quickly bring him to the pads. He runs away after i bring him to the pads, then go to another spot and pee on the carpet. HELP i really need this yorkie to stop peeing in my room, i've been cleaning it all day everyday. Should i bring him to the pads the first thing in the morning and not let him move elsewhere until he is done peeing? I read a lot of forums, people say give him a firm "NO" when he is not peeing on the pads then quickly bring him to the pads. That means bring him to the pads and make him stay there until he is done? Please be detail, this pet is driving me and my family nuts, i'm about to put him to sleep. |

| What about lining an Xpen fully with potty pads, that way he can only go in the correct spot? He doesn't know where he is supposed to pee, which is why he runs to another spot to go. When he has accidents are you cleaning it with a product made for urine removal? If you aren't, he is probably smelling his scent on the rug which stimulates him to potty there. By the way, I really hope you are not serious about the putting him to sleep comment. |

| i'm serious Well, if i did all my research and did all i can to housetrain him and if he refuse to learn then it's not my fault. I would not want to have a stubborn/dumb dog not knowing how to pee correctly for another 10 yrs. We have to clean up after him everytime which is like 6 to 7 times a day to clean up his pee and poo. So putting him to sleep is the best way for both him and us if he still doesn't learn. |

Simply build a pen or cordoned off area for him when he gets up. Leave him there until he potties. Then he can get out. We did that with Coby who had the same problem at first. If you truly can't handle it, then there are people here who would gladly take him off your hands!!

| Hi, Kalina made a great point - Make sure you are cleaning up the spots that your pooch previously peed or pood in very well. Remember, they have a great since of smell and love to "re-mark" territory. So, clean it very, very very well or they'll go back to the same spots. Also, you can purchase a product that comes in a spray bottle that encourages a dog to pee/poop in the designated spot you spray it in. I can not remember the name of the brand I used when Zoe was being trained, but it definitely helped. |

| I got a $20 simple solution to remove the stain and odor of dog's pee. It works great, when my dog pee on the carpet, there's a yellow spot, after i spray the simple solution on the pee stop, it got rid of the yellow color and the ordor. Seems like small dogs just requires extra attention/care which i dont' have the time to manage them since i got to work 40/hrs a week. Don't worry guys, i won't put him to sleep yet!!! |

| Why wouldn't you just re home the dog? Why is this talk of putting the dog to sleep even going ON? That is not at all acceptable. I truly hope this is a sick joke. |

| Yes, I do question that too. But if it is, no problem. We'd all have the same answers anyway. And no one would really do it when there are people here that I'm sure would offer to drive to their house to take him "off their hands".

| This Remind Me Of This reminds me of a thread that was started by the same person under various monikers. Who in their right mind would put a dog to sleep because the owner isn't smart enough to take the poor pup outside to pee and poop? Waits for the pup to whine to be let out of the crate? Be careful that you don't buy into these posts because the goal is to upset you.

| My apologies in advance to the group if I end up wrong but this has to be one of the losers that comes on here to get a rise out of members. If you are actually truly thinking of putting a dog to sleep is a consideration because he's not peeing in the right place I feel sorry for you and can offer no suggestions except to beg you to rehome the poor baby.
