| At what age? At what age did everyone get their yorkie housebroke? And what sex is that yorkie? I have a9 month old and he pooped in the house the other day which is the first time in months but he still pees in the house. I was wondering who else had a rough time getting theirs to pee outside. |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Izzy will be turning 8 mos old on 8/29 and we are at 50/50..sigh....she still does not give us any type of sign that she has to go out so when one of us is home - she is out every 2 hours or so. She holds it all night though from about 9pm to 6am which is 9 hours(she has done that since we brought her home at 5 mos. so go figure that one out). While we are at work she will go on her pee-pads but only when confined. We've tried everything too from our clicker training with only special treats given for potty successes to getting those Poochie Bells to hang on the patio door to go out....but Izzy is a WIP (work in progress) and we have the patience to work with her. She'll get there sooner or later. hahaha. She is very young yet and gets easily distracted...only frustrating thing is when you have her outside for about 15 minutes and does nothing and then comes in the house and within 2 minutes she decides to do her business or she is totally involved with playing with the cats and then she just stops and does her thing. Also - she hates going on wet grass so that will be a problem come winter. But what we just bought was a little dog house that we'll put on our deck right outside our patio door so when it rains or when it starts to snow hopefully she will go in there!

| My little boy sits and looks at me BUT he does this every 30 minutes. Being a stay at home mom I can get to him sometimes. I also babysit for 3 little ones so sometimes I do not see him looking at me. But he does hold it in his kennel from 9pm to 5:30am and when i am too busy with chores I put him in his kennel and he cries when he has to go. But out in the house he still has issues. thanks for the reassurance that it just isn't my dog and my training skills. |

| I got Zada at 14 weeks of age and kept her in the expen (with wee-wee pads down) and frequent trips outside for a month, then blocked off the breakfast & kitchen area to let her have more free time inside, but only when I was right there to watch her. I kept this up for probably 3 months, but we always kept her on the sofa with us at night if we watched TV. She wasn't allowed down. We got Azrael when she was already 5 months, (and pad trained) 3 months after getting Zada, and kept the routine up with her as well. I don't have a clue when we completely trusted them though. They never had a chance to potty in the house, and when they were probably 18 months old or older we let them sleep with us and have more freedom in the rest of the house for short periods at a time with supervision. Now that they are 2 1/2 years old we let them have the house entirely. I've never found anything on the carpets or floor and we do put wee-wee pads down when we can't take them with us, and we take the pads with us on trips. I guess to make a long story short and to answer the question..........I don't have a clue when they were "totally" house trained since they never did anything in the house anyway. |

| I tried the putting him in my lap but he peed in his sleep for a while so it didnt work. He got me and the couch too many times so we do not let him on the couch until he is completely housebroke, whenever that may be. |

| Aubrey is a little over 10 months, and hes housebroken, excpet when hes sick. It took me until he was about 5 month. Dakota will be 3 months old on the 27th and shes doing MUCH better than AUbrey was. I give her around a month, and she will be housebroken It helps to have another dog for them to follow. |

Thats good. Its going to take some time. Also, you can put him on his leash and keep him with you. THats the key, you HAVE to always be watching him. | |

| Abby is only about 5 months old. She is puppy pad trained and i havent seen any accidents in a while. For some reason when we were trying to train her to go outside she seemed to think she could go anywhere she wanted. Then we started training her on the pads and she realized she had to go in a specific place. she hasnt had any accidents in a while |

| Avery is 4 months old and has been pretty much fully trained since about 3 months. She is pee pad trained though-so im sure that is easier(she can go whenever she needs to)

| I know I have said this before, but I was very fortunate or better be prepared with my boy Winston...I swear he was trained the very first day we brought him home, at 8 weeks. He goes outside to potty, he did it before we brought him in the house and he has never went potty in the house. He would probably explode before he would go potty inside...he is now 3 years old. Unbelievable I know, but very true, honestly. I swear by it..do not bring a new puppy in the house...do not let his paws hit the floor. Take him outside immediately when you bring him home...keep him outside until he goes potty, he eventually will, it may take awhile but he will go potty...then praise him...make sure he knows that is what makes you happy. Then he will constantly want to go outside to potty, because it makes you happy...and he will know where to go...outside only.
