YT 500 Club Member | Petsmart Training Yesterday I went to petsmart to check out the training classes. It was horrible. The trainer was yelling at the dogs and you could hear her throughout the store. She was pulling on the leashes so hard. It was horrible to even watch let alone think that that could have been Armani, and the owners I think were sitting shocked but didn do anything. I came up to the manager and told him I didn think that type of training is appropriate for any type of animal. And that I didn need classes like this to teach Armani how to roll over. POOR puppies in those classes. I would rather spend more money than take him to petsmart. I couldn believe it. I got in my boyfriends car almost in tears. He wanted to go in there and yell at the trainer for animal abuse.

| I went to my Pet Smart to check out their training as well. I watched a whole class. The trainer was really nice and the dogs loved him, so I think it depends on the trainer. |

| im shocked! that is NOT petsmart training philosophy and not what we are taught while going through the training program! i dont think i've EVER yelled at one of my students while training... although ive come pretty close to yelling at their owners . i do understand how this happened though... we've gone through 3 different trainers in the last year that we hired to help me out so i wouldnt have to work 6 days a week.... the longest one lasted 3 months.... and now owes the company ALOT of money for all the returns he had on his classes. :-/ sooo... im hoping this person is just someone new who they were giv ing a chance and wont be around long? yuck....

YT 500 Club Member | I hope so I really find Armani a class but let me tell you if someone was treating him like those poor dogs I would put a leash around her neck and pull as hard as I could do too. My dad even said when I told him the story thank god Armani was not in that class or I would raise hell beyond hell for that trainer.

| hmmm... well if you DO decide to go back to petsmart for training. look for their acredidation certificate. every trainer is supose to have their posted somewhere around ither where you sign up or where you do the classes. it should have a date on it, so you can check how long theyve been training, and sit through one of their classes.... thats the best way to find out what kind of trainer they are and if its right for you or not. if you dont feel comfortable... just get up and leave...

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Clicker Training Have you tried clicker training? Here is a link that will give you more info. Find clicker training in your area and even though it costs more it's worth it. I took Izzy for Clicker Training I for 6 weeks and now going end of month for Clicker Traiing II for puppies. I swear by it. And it's so much fun to work with your furbaby and they love it too. Izzy sees me getting her clicker and treat bag out and she gets very happy and excited. http://clickertraining.com/

| My sister took Bogey through Petsmart training and I went to class with her once and they never yelled at any of the puppies, but I just didn't think the area was large enough with all the different sized breeds. So I contacted my vet when looking for training for Lucy, our vet offers one but it doesn't start until the fall and she recommended this place called "Training Tracks Learning Station," we had our first class last night and there were only 5 of us in there, they expect more people for next weeks class. But there was a good mix of dogs, some big, some small and we already learned so much. We started her on clicker-training last night and she is already more responsive and better behaved. Plus the trainers are really good they work one-on-one with each of the dogs and their owners so they can learn the proper way and timing for the clicks!

| Is there another petsmart that is local to you that you could go to, what about Petco? Theres other training places besides there. I liked Aubreys trainer at Petsmart, but you really don't have to know a lot, seeing how she use to work at a Nursing Home, and then she was a Pet Trainer.... Sorry to fellow Pet Trainers, and Nursing home workers.! |

| Spike took beginner obedience at Petsmart and we had a great time, so I enrolled him in the intermediate class which started last week, and so far, it's great too! The staff are all nice there too, and they all greet the dogs they know by name! |

| Yeah!!! Thats why I haven't taken my dogs to Petsmart for training. At our Petsmart here too, you can hear the trainers voice YELLING at the top of her lungs throughout the whole store!!!.... while the owners and their pets are sitting right there. Not sure what the deal is on that other than it made me anxious just shopping in the store, and wanted to get my stuff and get out asap... I could only imagine what being in the class would've been like. Forget it. |

| omg thats so sad! im taking roman to the petsmart class now and his trainer is so good. hes nice and roman has really improved since taking him there. i guess it just depends on the store. i swear if anyone yelled at my baby (besides me or my dad) we would have some problems lol. if your looking for classes im sure their are other options in your area. i cant belive those people in the class just sat there and took him yelling and pulling at their dogs.. i definitely would have got my money back if my trainer was bad!
