| More Potty Woes =/ So most of you know I have 4 dogs. They are all a year and younger and I got them all in less than a year. I know, I know.. I decided I just couldn't get enough "puppy love". I am a stay at home furbaby mom for the time being and still I feel like I am cleaning up close to 15-20 accidents a day between my group. Only my oldest boy is 100% reliably trained. The other two older girls are somewhat trained, but if they have to go and I don't catch it, they WILL go in the house. Kenzie of course is a baby and pops a squat wherever and whenever she wants. When I catch her in the act I say NO and take her outside and repeat potty. Here's my question I guess. I HATE to do the whole in the crate, out to pee and play for 1/2 hour, then back in.. but i'm starting to feel it is my only option. As it stands now, they all sleep in an XXL crate together at night, or when we are not here. I'm considering getting 4 individual size crates instead and just doing the crate training potty method. What do you guys think? If I seperate them, is that being mean? I just don't know what to do.. it's hard to keep my eye on 4 puppies at the same time to watch out for accidents. |

| I too have 4 pups all born last November! I got them all their own crates last month, crate trained with a treat and now at bedtime I say 'crate' and they hop right in, it's nice. I did this because terriers can be real nasty if left home alone, I know of 2 separate incidents with yorkie kills in the last several weeks, one was a puppy F one was an adult M. That said, I too am having a tough go of housebreaking. The male is very good, the girls are not. They go out on leashes every 2 hours. Recently we stopped free feeding, and that has helped tremendously. Food in the morning, food at night. Take them out 10-20 min. after feeding. That controls when/where they poop. It also tells them you are the boss and control food. Next, clean carefully, I got a special wood floor pet stain cleaner for the wood and sprayed it all over the wood floors. Then I used an 'orange' pet cleaner on the kitchen flooring, and sprayed it all over. The experts say between the food control, destroying and residual elimination smell, and taking out every 2 hours that should do it. I am seeing a big improvement, I hope this helps.
