| What are the signs? I'm potty training Molly (3 mos), or she's training me, I'm not sure. She's not perfect, but we are making progress. She even asked to go out this morning, or at least that's what I'm telling myself. At one particular low moment a friend suggested some signs she watches for in her cocker spaniels that signal they need to potty. What signs do your babies give you? She had suggested being hyper, and I've started to watch for it, and she will potty when I take her out those times. Let me know...I'll take any suggestions I can get. Carla |

| Every dog is different. Izzie starts running around faster than usual and sniffing. I've only had her a few days and I'm still getting used to her. I take her out very often...after every nap (which is a lot), after eating and after playing alot. I say to her 'Izzie to potty' over and over until she goes. Then I praise her like she just won a gold medal when she goes. I give her treat sometimes too..but I don't want to have to depend on them. Usually praise is enough! Good luck! With my Bella when she was big enough and mostly trained I bought some poochie bells, so now when she wants to go out she rings the bells.

| Each dog is different. Some signals are hard to figure out!! Sissy will just sit and look at me. Angel doesn't give many hints at all - just starts sniffing and moving faster. Sometimes this means she wants outside and sometimes it doesn't mean anything at all!!! Good luck - sometimes it takes a loooooonnnnngggggg time to get down.

| She's doing pretty well. I was bragging on her to the same friend last night that I'd had her out most of the evening with me while I cleaned house and she had done so well. I had taken her out a few times and she didn't go, but I was taking her out every hour so I thought she just might not have to. Then my husband and son came home and found a puddle in the bathroom that I hadn't seen...that'll teach me to brag! If I can just stop the peeing in the crate... Carla |

| my puppy Mocha sits there and looks at me for awhile. And then she walks around and starts sniffing. If I'm not paying attention, she'll start to whine and get frantic, which is when I know she really needs to go potty. This took awhile to become a pattern, so good luck! |

| if cody is playing, it's nearly impossible to tell if he has to go outside. We've only had him a week so it's hard to tell, but sniffing around either means he's exploring, looking for his bed, or looking for a place to pee. If he's sleeping, he'll sometimes get really restless and tries to keep sleeping but will keep opening his eyes and flopping all around on his bed trying to get comfortable. If we're holding him, he'll just go nuts all of a sudden. Now, each of these things make us take him outside, and sometimes he goes and sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes when he doesn't go, he'll be good when we come back inside and sometimes he pees. When he's in his crate, he'll sometimes cry to go outside- but that can mean he's sick of being in his crate, has to go pee, or already has had an accident in his crate. So who knows? (we really like it when we can tell he has to go, but just flops down in the grass and stares at us- then squats down the minute he's back inside or in his crate ) |

I dont really look forward to potty trianing. But, we are excited!![/QUOTE] It may be too large. It's the smallest crate I could find at PetSmart, but since she's only 2 lbs, it's still big to her. There's probably twice the room she needs to stand up, turn around or lay down. I was trying to put towels in the back to make it smaller, but she would just drag them down and lay on top of them. Then she couldn't reach her chew toy or water. Any suggestions on something else to use to make it smaller? Thanks!! Carla |

| And yes, I'm using neutralizer. I spray it pretty good and let it sit while we go out to potty. Again, thanks for all the suggestions...I'm still new to this whole indoor dog thing. Carla |

Scruffy is the same as Sissy.......he will sit and STARE at me........then I just usually say "you have to go potty?" then he runs to the door. It's hard to get across, and it's SOOO hard to explain to someone if they are DOG WATCHING for a weekend or something. All these little things that I KNOW....are hard to explain because they're Scruffy and My communication. The kids don't even know the subtle things. It's so much easier in the summer. Scruffy LOVES the outside and will be on his leash outside all day....thus peeing outside too!! Good luck! BE CONSISTENT!! Thats the key!! Heidi | |

| When my Tobi has to go pee he usually starts sniffing around. When he wants to go poop, he does a combination of sniffing around and running back and forth super super fast! It's really cute when he does the running back and forth...hehe..I guess it's his way of saying "I gotta go I gotta go I GOTTA GO!" hehe
