New here, and need advice about my puppy pooping too much! Hello everyone. My name is Heather. I am new to Yorkie Talk. I have a six month old miniature yorkie named Gizmo. He is adorable, except for the fact that he poops too much. Sometimes 10 times in one day! I feed him Iam's puppy chow. One handful twice a day, and he always has a full dish of water. I feed him one to two treats a day (puppy yogurt drops for immune system) and no people food at all. He will not go on his puppy pee pads either, most times he will pee on them, but he poops wherever he wants. I am thinking about kennel training him, but I left him in it for 4 hours one day and he pooped in there too, 3 times. I thought dogs won't poop where they sleep, but not him, he does not care. I am getting really irritated with this, and don't know what to do. Any advice please??? Thank you so much, I look forward to hearing from all you other yorkie lovers! ~Heather

I thought Mocha pooped alot in one day.. 3 times but your dogs is nuts!! Have you tried switching his food?? Mocha seems to go in her crate and they she will walk in it and spread it all over.. In his crate does her have a bad on one half.. I know Mocha wont go in the part that has her blanket.. Good luck and keep us posted and post pictures!!

AFAIK, the higher quality foods are digested so much better that there isn't much left over for waste/poop. I would suggest changing his food to something like Innova or NutraMax if the # of poops is that high. 10 per day You poor thing! Be sure the crate is just large enough for your pup to lie down or turn around in. No larger. And slowly increase the time he's in his crate. Hopefully he will slowly learn better bowel control.

Iams is not a great food, lots of fillers. There is a thread called "puppy food recommendations" under the nutrition threads that lists all the premium foods that have good ingredients. I feed Chewy Natural Balance and he goes 3 times only with no straining and it is fine. I think if you change the food and put him in a small crate - even if you have to stuff the back with baby blankets, you will find that things will change. Welcome and good luck

Welcome Heather! I am new too and have found this site to be very helpful. I have a 4 month old yorkie and he has MAJOR pooping problems right now. He goes all the time but it still seems like he is constipated. I think his poop is too hard and that it cannot come out so he struggles just like your puppy. I am going to take him to the vet next week and hopefully get a stool softener or something bc it is really getting to be too much to handle. You always have to keep your eye on them and they should not have to go through this. I hope your puppy gets better. I share your pain believe me!!

| Jamie put a spoon of yunket or youghurt (naturel) on top of his food 3 times a week and you will see amazing results + dogs love it and it is good for their fur
